Scaru's Extremely Detailed Guide on Adding Pictures

ubuntu ftw.

Picasa and Imgur both have drag and drop. Some might find that easier.

The 8th pic is too large scaru. :P

You're an hour late! ;)

Didnt have time to troll you earlier, sry. :P

Wow I definitely needed this. Thanks!

I'm just using your thread as a testing ground, if that's okay.

hmmmm...that's came out kinda small....I wonder what went wrong?

Okay, Way too big

You forgot the % sign. ;) I fixed it above though.

Okay. I got it. Scaru, please delete that giant one, its playing hell with the screen sizing of my ipad.

I don’t get it…
Why would anyone glue his flashlight to the ceiling?

Is that really as big as it looks? O.O It looked like four torches stuck together at first.

(can’t found two years old Don’s (if I’m not wrong) thread though :expressionless: )

what happened to these tutorials, scaru? :expressionless:

Maybe it’s just me, but I hate when someone use that “Dimension” field. Hate when 500 pix image is resized into blurry s%&t on my 1680x1050 monitor, and it’s not even FullHD. I would love to see function that resize images when they don’t fit the screen (i.e. mobile devices), and not fit to screen (HD size) a small 500 pix image  I was thinking many times to create a “What resolution do you use?” poll because of those badly formated images.

EDIT: please, don’t follow this tutorial, don’t use 100%. Make a small 640x480 previews and link them to full images if you want (unless it’s one or two images). This is how the best presentation IMHO: Review: ThruNite TN10 & TN11 (XM-L | multi CR123 / 18650's) (just an example)
If you do it that way, your reviews will have only 2 or 3 Megs of images, much faster loading. Wanna full res image? Click on it, et voila!

I just made this one so it was "all in one" so to speak, it covered everything including the hosting. Mostly because in the past two days I have been asked about how to post a picture/where to host it 3 times. ;)

I agree though, it would be better if it only decreased the picture size and didn't stretch it to fit on larger monitors than it was meant for. But, IMO it is worth it for when you are browsing from say an iphone; it makes everything so much easier.

woW! talk about intuitive. i am an admin on another forum not related and our software is like night and day to this format. oh well, i guess it is what it is. i have been trying to upload a pic for a while, looks like i will try again.

I have EDITed my last post.

As for creating new post… 1) why just you don’t add your “new” way to one of those I mentioned? The OP could just edit his first post and add your new info
2) I don’t use Ubuntu, how do I upload pics? My menu is not like that. (I would skip this whole step)
3) I personally would recommend to open a new account on Photobucket or Imageshack (or even on tinypic), so you can always copy your links and not search whole forum for them.

Just my .02.

PS: it will make it easier for you, not for all. That’s why we need to create that poll and know the of mobile phone users.

Ok, good point. I will remove that part of it. I was mainly thinking of people on mobiles but I'll change it.

1. Because I felt like doing a new thread, I mean what's wrong with that?

2. You do the exact same thing it says, I have done this on: Ubuntu 12.04, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Chrome OS, and a Mac (forget which version).

3. Yes, if you are going to use the same images in multiple places over a longer period of time that might be a good idea; if you would like I could create a guide on how to create an account on photobucket. :P

As for mobile phone users, I know Gords is always on a phone and Nightcrawl always asks that people resize to 100% so I'm guessing he is too, I am a decent amount of the time (reading mostly since I hate typing on my iphone), and I'm sure there are many others.
