Review: UltraFire WF-606A (photo heavy now)

Reminds me of my old Romisen RC-N3. Similar size, but the Romisen costs more and adds additional modes and a forward clicky.

Thanks for the review!

Exactly my thoughts.

That being said, does anyone know where to find forward affordable clicky switches?

Thanks for the kind words.

I don’t know if it will fit but Shiningbeam has the Rominsen RC-G2 switches for like $1.50.

I replaced mine on my G2 and have my old one. I can measure it for you.

Shiningbeam doesn’t have the rc-n3 anymore but they have switches. Since this light is so similar it might work.

Sure, that would be great!

Just the inner tailcap diameter would do, thanks!

Thanks for the tips guys.

Whats the diameter of this switch?

Both of my non-working Saik SA-125 2AA lights have a switch that looks exactly like this one, they are 16mm in diameter.
Both dont work, both reverse clickies.

Thanks, my switch is 16mm as well.

This was my 1st ever LED flashlight, and I still love it.

A great intro light in my opinion. Beats the hell out of a 2aa incan maglite, and for the same or less money (UK).

Thanks. That looks pretty nice.

Nice light! Nice review! Thanks!

What is the lowest price this light can be found? I have seen a FandyFire at dx for about 17$

This sells for $13.35 at FastTech, so check out the link on the review!

Thanks very much! Frontpage’d and Sticky’d.

This was the second LED flashlight I’ve bought, back then I didn’t know anything about diodes, batteries or anything. Just discovered DX and ordered.

I keep one of these in my car with Eneloops just in case I need a flashlight with at least couple of hours runtime. And last weekend it turned out I needed one. Still worked like a charm - no flaws or whatsoever, not even high temperature on the host. Nice beam, nice switch, very reliable. Possibly the best AA flashlight for the money.

I also have the black version with Q5, which is considerably worse - not brighter, worse switch, uglier, getting hot.

What kind of output did this have before it was modded? Lumen wise I mean and what does it have now. do you think?

Marc.

My apologies but I don’t think I’m qualified to give any type of output estimation for I don’t have any means of measuring it.

I think the best comparison I can make is that it’s comparable to a stock Stainless steel C3 with an 14500.

Before the mod, they had a similar output and now the 606A is slightly brighter.

In general, the 606A does have a tight hotspot.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for that, just looking for a light for my Dad. This might do.

Marc.

Very nice little thing. What kind of output are you getting with 2 AAs?

Unfortunately I don’t have a lux meter or an integrated sphere, so I don’t have exact measurements.

However, I would say I’m pretty impressed with the output, especially from a slim 2xAA package.

Sorry I can’t be specific.

I bought two UltraFire WF-606A Cree Q5-WC 1-Mode from Fasttech. The pill unscrews and uses the same thread pitch as a P60 dropin at the pill-reflector junction. So looking to up the power a little I used a XP-G 0.8v-4.5v SolarForce dropin. Remove the pill spring and lathed down the diameter below the threads and the pill fits. If you make your own dropins just make one upside down and the pill should fit without any more modifications. The deeper upside down pill version will clear the reflector and lock into the host a bit better. Those of use that want the two-aa host this is as close as I’ve seen.

I have this one and out of the box it’s not bright at all.
less bright than most AA based light. I can’t untwist the shorter tube on the head to make it shorty like in the OP. maybe it’s glued.
in my opinion, better buy another light.
