Good deal - TrustFire TF-R2

host and pill would be good. the p60 pill is just far enough off that i would prefer the original pill

if we got a group buy for under $20 with no emitter I would be in…

this thing is screaming for an xpe2 on copper pushed to 3a J)

I got the one Pulsar modded and I can say that it rocks in tube sox. It’s a very nice host and with a T6 driven with 2800mA it has a great flood and decent throw.

that was my first 18650 light too. glad your enjoying it

I paid $30 for mine, which came with a CW XRE 1.2A at the tail. Of course, that silly thing was instantly replaced with an XML 3A. The pill screws into the lights head, which is made of very thick aluminum and does a good job of heat sinking (better than a quality C8). If youre thinking about one, and have pills to swap in and out, buy it. You’ll never use a regular P60 host again and wonder why you ever did. Finish 8/10, design 8/10.

Also, if Hrvoje posts a deal or suggestion, its always been an extremely good one worth taking note of.

this is advice I think you gave along time ago ...and one thing I was smart enough to listen to ...

it caused me to buy lights like the Ultra-fire c-88

thanks Hrvoje

Hi,

I just ran across this thread. The TF-R2 sounds pretty good, so I was searching around, and it looks like it’s basically not available anymore? The only place I found it was on Amazon, from a seller, and it was $80+, from China:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00AZZRHB0/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

If the TF-R2 is no longer available, is there something newer and similar, i.e., a C8-style host with good cooling that can take a P60 drop-in?

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for reminding me… my GF snagged mine because she can run it in high mode continuously without overheating (XML 3 mode @3A). Looks like I might need to buy another!

Enjoy!

Hi,

All those places (plus others) don’t have it/out-of-stock when you try to add it to your cart.

Jim

I just tried and got the same result… sorry about that. Perhaps you could email customer service at a few shops to see if they can get one for you. Of all the flashlights I own, Id rate this in my top 10 choices for its robust design, heavy construction and great heat sinking. They weigh a good amount more than other lights of similar size and the pill screws directly into the head, not part of the battery tube. IMO, well worth tracking one down if possible… if you own P60’s to swap.

This one allows me to add to cart +$5 shipping to the US.

I paid $32 for mine from dinodirect. Hope that helps…

FlashPilot,

Thanks. I just made the order, but boy, was kind of strange:

- They/he charges $5 to ship to U.S.

  • After placing the order, they send email asking me to send money via Paypal.

I haven’t had to do that before :(…

Thanks again. Hope that this turns out to be legit. Have you (or anyone) ever bought something from sobuying.com?

Jim

Edit: BTW, how did you find the light? I was doing some searching earlier, and didn’t run across it or sobuying.com.

Edit 2: Got email and order status just changed to “Awaiting shipment”!

Hi Jim,

I found sobuying through trial and error with google for you. Their order process seems a bit strange. Id guess that they probably didnt spend the money and time to put together a descent e-store site. As long as you used paypal, you should be protected. If it doesnt arrive within 45 days of ordering, you must file a pp dispute to retrieve your money (I usually dont go over 41 or 42). I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get yours, but its looking pretty good right now.

Hi,

Wow, you searched for me? I really appreciate that! As I said I tried for awhile, but didn’t get any real hits.

BTW, I did get an order accepted email and it’s showing and awaiting shipping now, so they seem to be moving along. I was a bit worried because of the disconnect between the order, and the completely separate payment via Paypal. I’m guessing they probably manually match up their incoming Paypal payments vs. orders, which is probably why it took so long to go from “Awaiting payment” to “Awaiting shipping”. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, and hopefully they’ll come through, and will post back here, if I can remember.

The thing that I’m mainly concerned about is that their inventory may also be manual, and they might not actually have them in stock :(…

That would definitely be a disappointment at this point, so I’ll post back here if I get an actual ship notice also, in case anyone else is interested.

I’m starting to feel like the proverbial “canary in the mine” now though :)…

Im glad to help out. As with the other links I posted earlier, all the other sites I found didnt have the light available after clicking their “buy now” icons. sobuying was the only one that seemed to actually work throughout the purchase process. I suspect you’ll probably get your light. But if not, you know what to do. Now I need to see if I can retrieve mine from my GF… and hope its still in good shape.

Hi,

This order from sobuying.com is not looking too good. My order is still showing “Awaiting shipment” on their website, and I’ve sent/posted inquiries to their website several times, but have not heard anything back the last couple of days :(… I have a feeling, just a hunch, that they don’t actually have stock of the light :(…

Has anyone on BLF ever purchased anything from sobuying.com?

Thanks,
Jim

An update: sobuying.com finally responded to me, and they said that they are shipping today, and will provide a tracking # “in a week”.

Shipping is “by post” and will take “18 to 38 days”…

We shall see, but they’re definitely not in the same league as FastTech (“SlowTech”?)…

How about this one? Focalprice is ok dealer, I ordered many times from them.

That’s a T*R**-R2, rather than a T*F**-R2. Does the TR-R2 also work with P60 drop-ins, like the TF-R2 is suppose to?

Jim

That’s the same flashlight, the title is wrong.
