Review: USB battery box 4x18650

Review requested

Added to my to-do list, cheers!

The one I tested has both round and mini usb input, but you are right, there is many different version of it.

All above box chargers are for 4 cells. May I suggest you HKJ to test something for 2 cells? For example this one:

+1
That looks pretty cool and a bit more pocketable.

I do already have one for two cells, but the one you linked to looks good, I have ordered it.

Now the question is if get time to do the reviews (Next item is a Soshine charge).

Oh wow, this could be best looking one of all 2-battery boxes I’ve seen to date. Going to order one for myself… because the 6x18650 box is just too big in some situations :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s only why I mentioned about it.
Thanks HKJ

I’ve already got 3 of these too, all three works fine, but cannot say anything about “2A”. etc… charging two devices at one time as expected - and this is main point

It seems that the 2 battery box from fasttech, has a to low low voltage protection. There is another thread about it, but i cant find it

Does anybody know sth about it?

if you are talking about this then yes it does drop it down to around 2.4 to 2.5ish . I only use ncr in it due this very reason .they are great otherwise .they charge it to 4.2 volts

i open it up to take a peek inside .The circuitry seems of high quality . apparently its "SEIKO" the famous Japanese manufacture. couldnt find any seiko names on the chips .

Thanks Shaquille.
What a pity :frowning:
I wanted to use it with uprotected cells…

i have been using ncr 2900 in for a while now and notice that once it turns off telling that its exhausted of all juice. took out battery and it measured at 2.5 volts ....after 20 minutes ..measure it again and the battery voltage at around 2.9 to 3 volts . so that's what probably scared a few users ( which we know is normal since once battery "rests" voltage climbs to its true readings) . that's just my theory as to why their were some concerns raised . I very much like this charger and have used old sonys salvaged from laptops in it as well. charges 2 iphones at once with ncr3400 unprotected (which fits perfectly) .protected batteries wont fit in it

update: purchased 3 more these and they all cutoff at 3 volts . just the first one I have cuts off at 2.5 ... may be a batch which had quality control issues? .anyway iv been using these power bank almost daily with no issues so far

(I use a Fluke 117 to check voltage so volt reading is relaible)

So cut-off is at 2.5V
It’s ok but not perfect - most of cells have in specification:
Discharge Cut-off Voltage - 2.75V
Thanks for the review!

Fasttech have a similar looking box but the guts are much simpler

I think it’s not a charger, only box

This is the one I ordered and received. It works quite similar to the one HKJ reviewed, with one USB output, with mini-plug and mini-USB for input (should be micro-USB, comes with a micro-USB cable).
Only rated at 1A though. My Android says it is slow charging from it though, must be less than 1A to have it say that.

@wikiman, I think it was already pointed out above by Shaquille, you can ONLY use unprotected cells in this unit. I also have it and have been using 3400 mah NCR18650B’s in it. I have come to like the build and form factor of this unit.

Yes yes, now I also have it :stuck_out_tongue:
Nice backup of juice, well made and charge to exactly 4,20V.
