Can't decide on a 26650 thrower.

So my current options and propectives are:

  1. Convoy L2 from FastTech @ $51.19
  2. Roche F22 from IntlOut @ $58 (53+5+2)
  3. Shadow JM26 from IntlOut @58.46 (56.47+1.99)

Any one of these that really stand out in any way?
I'm going for furthest throw, but don't want to compromise on quality...I'm a fussy one.

Trying to keep it below 100 dollars so no TN30 or Fenix something.

I know it's really annoying when people ask these kind of questions, (it annoys me especially when there's half a dozen threads on it already) but what is the King of budget throw?

The HD2010 is an awesome thrower for around $30. Branded by lots of companies, Ultrafire, FandyFire, TangsFire, Rustu, and several others. Very heavy duty construction and throws well. If you get one make sure you don’t get one with the weak 1 amp driver.

If I were you I would get this:

Even if this is your first mod, would be a lot of fun and you would have a high quality 26650 thrower at a big discount, and you could fit it with the latest xml bin.

Otherwise, out of the ones you mentioned, not the F22 if you want a thrower as it has a smaller C8 style reflector. JM26 or the L2 look good. For the L2, if you want a bit more throw get the XML U2 if tint isn’t too important.

18650 > Small Sun ZY-T13 or ZY-T08 with resistor modding.
26650 > Small Sun ZY-T16 with changing driver.

Nobody has one yet, but I would grab the Convoy L2 for sure. It should have a bigger head, good driver and it looks good. It’s a small gamble though.

If you want a straight stock light, works well right out of the box, them eliminate the Roche for poor throw, however it probably has the best UI and nice with 2 26650's. The JM26 is nice with the side button, certainly, but haven't seen measured numbers on it for the stock model in lumens and throw (kcd), but it should do well driven at 2.8A and a head diameter of 63.5 mm. The Convoy's head is even bigger (maybe the reflector is wider too), but has no side switch and does have 2 battery capability, if that interests you.

I wouldn't recommend the HD 2010 anymore as a stock light, great after mods, but risky when stock.

I picked up one of these, when they were $46, I haven’t got it yet, but there is a thread in here on it. 78mm head, 4.2 amp SST-50, and then do a XM-L2 sinkpad swap-out… 8)

I have the Convoy L2 inbound… should be here next week or so (both my Fasttech orders so far have taken ~1 week once shipped and it has been about 4 days since it shipped).

There is one other person on BLF (that I know of) that has the L2 and they got a 65K lux measurement at 1m. The reflector looks to be ~5mm wider and ~6mm deeper then the STL-V2 reflector so around 60-70K lux sounds right to me. They also take a 20mm board so swapping in a Sinkpad with an XM-L2 U2 should be a piece of cake.

The F22 looks very good

Yeah, Ive been hankering after the Convoy L2 for a while now. Trouble is, I’m a little over-spent this month :stuck_out_tongue: (yes I know, it’s only the 7th !) so looks like it’ll have to happen sometime in April. (Dang… this month has 31 days)

I posted a couple of pics in this thread.
