XM-L2 U2 Tint

Have a look. Both LED’s are same xm-l2 u2 1C from same US vendor. Both driven at 2 amps in the picture. Keygos M10 on left, Small Sun ZY-T 13 on right. Why so much difference in tint? Mix up in shipping?

Wow that is insane. The green tint on the right one is pretty noticeable.

Which “US Vendor”

If Illumination Supply, then I’m surprised there is that much variation. Cree standard binning leaves a lot to be desired, but it shouldn’t be that significant.

If Mouser, then I’m not at all surprised - Mouser doesn’t have the U2 in 1C - they have a U2 tint group that includes 1C, but could be 1A or 1B as well.

Edit: Looking more closely, that might actually be an LT6 (Neutral T6) on the left and a U2 (Cool U2) on the right. That’s a pretty significant difference in tint and the one on the right appears to be a bit brighter as well.

Playing with the Sphere ’o Many Mysteries I have seen some rather unexpected tint shifts due to the reflector. The CCT can shift a few 100 degrees K just by adding/removing/changing the reflector.

Does the ZY-T13 have a green lens sealing ring?
I have noticed green tint on my lights with a green gitd O-ring on the lens.

I’ve observed that reflector profile can impact tint significantly with the XM-L. However, the one on the left looks neutral, and may well be due to a mixup. Looking at the two emitters, does the emitting surface of the XM-L2 in the M10 appear more yellow than that in the SmallSun?

Perhaps the one on the left is the xm-L2 3C and not the U2?

The one on the left looks a comparable tint to my running nw xm-l2

Both are from Illumination Supply. I’m new to this thats why I’m asking. I dont think there was a vendor error as it was I.S.

No green sealing ring on the zy. The camra makes it look more green than to the naked eye.

Slim I will look at that when I get home from work  6hr’s to go…… :weary: I will do another picture w/o reflectors too. My HD2010 is here too so I will have to check it out when I get home from work.

That was my first thought. It’s definitely not CW.

Ive noted the same differences, especially with XML tint changes between reflectors.

the one on the left looks like NW to me XML2 t6 3c? or 4c? maybe

I have my best man on the problem. Will know soon

For comparison, here’s a side by side T5 vs U2. You can see the difference in color of the actual emitter. And these 2 lights have beams just about the same tint as those 2 you show.

!!

Here is the same 2 but reflector on the zy-t13 has been removed. Our internet is down so I’m using my phone and it is painfull lol. XM-L2 U2 1C in the zy still looks green
