It’s super easy to change the lens on the BTU. The reflector is held on via the led heatsink/plate. So keeping the lens pointed down, simply unscrew the bezel, once off set the light to the side tailcap up to keep dust out of the reflector. Remove the old lens out of the bezel. Carefully set the new lens in place in the bezel. Set the light on the bezel, pick the assembly up and slowly screw the bezel back in place until snug. Done.
I would say yes… But when tried to get one from Fenix they told me to kick rocks. Wanted me to send in my TK70 for repairs. When I explained to them what I was doing they told me they dont sell them seperately.
That’s exactly what Bam Caroll told me. But when I had my sister call in to buy it, they sold it to her for $10. And she even mentioned Bam’s quote. Weird huh.
Hopefully they will do the same for you.
I just bought one of the U2 ones, but I don’t think I will upgrade the lens. I paid $120 and was given $20 store credit. So really only $100. I bought a XIAOZHI NW and a 16430 battery with the $20. I have been going to buy the ZIAOZHI for a while.
A fifteen dollar lens would have to give me a 15% improvement for me to spend the money. The cost benefit ratio just isn’t there for me.
But thanks for the suggestions anyway.
Now I’ll go back to reading everything about it and stalking the mailman.
I e-mailed him and said that I would like the store credit like they did on the holiday sale. That was $150 plus $50 credit so I asked for $35 credit and he offered me $20. It seemed fair considering the holiday special was Really only $100.
The BTU ships FedEx, so if it all packs together, you’ll get it in 3-5 days.
I got a $10 handling charge from FedEx a few days later. They say it’s the fee for putting the package through customs for you. That’s not bad compared to other couriers which can charge insane brokerage fees.
I am not about to pay a fee for anything I didn’t agree to. They tried to do this to me in the past and I told them to stuff it. There is no contract when I haven’t agreed to it. I will pay the duty fees if they can prove they actually paid them for me. But that is it. They actually made me fill out a bunch of BS and send it to Homeland Security once.
I really can’t stand FedEx I would have had them send it some other way if I knew. I would rather not spend an extra 10% and save myself the hassle.
I guess I can contact FF and see if it’s not too late to have them ship it some other way.
