Test / Review: Coolook 10400 LiFePO4 batteries

I got a 4-pack of those from Fasttech, they have arrived few days ago. Here’s a photo of them:

Size: they’re completely equal to my AAA eneloops - both in length and width - so they won’t have trouble fitting anywhere. Now, the interesting part - how do they perform?

Their claimed capacity is 250mAh, sadly I haven’t been able to get more than 200mAh out of mine.

Here are discharge graphs, the most interesting part I guess:

0.1A (0.5C) discharge rate, 198mAh capacity

0.2A (1C) discharge rate, 176mAh capacity

0.4A (2C) discharge rate, 167mAh capacity.

1A (5C) discharge rate, 165mAh capacity.

Please note - if you want to know actual voltage, add 0.1V to 0.4A graph in your head, and 0.2V to 1A graph - that was voltage drop on magnets (which I had to use as I didn’t had a decent AAA holder).

Thanks Shadowww. You dont get much in a small package.

At least they “look cool”

Thanks for the test. They aren’t too bad at 1A

Thanks for the review. Always wonder how good are those coolook.

Thanks very much for the review! Frontpage’d and Sticky’d.

Been wondering about these, thanks for the review Shadowww.

That’s great, I have some but as my Maha wont do a discharge test on them I appreciate the review very much. Are you doing the AA format as well?

Oopies - I didn’t knew 14500 LiFePO4’s were available on FastTech! :o
I’m going to order them right now (from all 3 manufacturers - Coolook, Powerlion and Soshine), and I’ll run some tests on them when they arrive.

Now there are going to be lots of people hoping your order arrives quickly! In fact I think I’ll hold off ordering anymore until you get yours. Thanks for that.

It usually takes 2-3 weeks for FastTech orders to arrive to my country, so you’ll need quite some patience :stuck_out_tongue:

Fasttech just got these in yesterday, are they better or worse than the flames do you think?

If you feel like answering any 14500 questions we had some on this thread. 14500 battery from Fasttech-which one for SK68 clone

Today I tested my Spark SD52 (that is the AA cell model, takes 2 in series) with 2 NiMh 2050mAh LSD cells. On high setting it got about 2:15hrs. The cells could not supply enough power to kick the light into turbo mode. Then tested with 1 LiFePO4 cell and a dummy and got 45min, and high mode was noticeably brighter 15 minutes after turning on compared to the NiMh. Then I tried 2 LiFePO4, and this time I got 1:45. For anyone that has a AA cell light that can handle the higher voltage, LiFePO4 does seem to offer some tangible advantages.

Look what I’ve got in the mail today :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll publish test of all 3 of them this weekend.

Now I’m looking forward to the weekend, will seem like a long wait!

I think I mentioned it elsewhere, but I got a few of the Soshine 700mAh LiFePO4 and when I compared the run times in a Spark SD52, the Coolook fared better, I’ll have to try again a few times to get a better assessment of what to expect however. The trick is to be around at the exact moment the light shuts down and not miss it happening.

Do you care about 0.1A results?

If not -> Test / Review: Coolook, Powerlion and Soshine 14500 (AA) LiFePO4
:stuck_out_tongue:

thanks for this review, i own them but don’t have a proper tester
glad to know they are par for lifepos. being so lightweight you couldn’t expect more
i use them with xenon bulbs in mag solitaires!
