10 18650s at HD for $22?

So are these worth getting? Really only 1500mAh capacity?

It appears to be the Sanyo with the pink ring to the right. There is the possibility that some packs will have different cells. Not likely I would think, but possible. I have seen computer battery packs: same model, different batteries.

Yes, almost all pack pulls will be unprotected cells.

If anyone sees a bunch and snaps up an extra I would be interested in buying it. :)

How much do these cells cost loose? I’d hate to find out they are only $2-3 a piece lol

Scaru, I would have mailed one to you, but I just went back and the other two, they be gone now. Sorry.

Guy I talked with in garden dept said some guy came right in after me and bought the other two.

Another BLFer living very close to me where I’m staying in the OC, Calif.? Probably not. Probably someone who saw it on fatwallet. Fat wallet people buy a lot of these sale items and resell em on flea bay.

So we are not the only ones who know about it, so if you want one, might be best to grab one or two. You can always return it to HD months after you buy it.

As for using these in lights? I have NOT used the Sanyo tool 1500 mah cells. I have used the Sony and Samsung ones, which seem to work on par with “normal” 2600 cells, BUT YMMV. I did NOT do scientific comparison tests.

Has anyone done any real tests on any 1500-mah tool cells? Am I the only one on BLF who has used them? That’s hard to believe.

Hahahahaha. I was about to pull my hair out on that one also. There are hidden screws in the wells between the cells. Normal phillips head.

im almost thinking about cleaning off the useless bits of plastic to smoothen them up and i have two 10x18650 holders

most were 3.6-3.61v, one was 3.47v, a couple in the 3.55-3.59v range. as long as they are a decent cell… who can complain about $2.30 a cell??
edit: but i like your 3.6-3.65v range better than mine :expressionless:

Sounds like an idea!!! Didn’t think of that.

Usually the holders are open-topped trays, where the cells lie length wise. First one I’ve seen where they are enclosed like this.

The trays are really handy for stacking the batteries so you can take a bunch of DMM readings on the cells without having them roll all over the place.

Some super use will probably come to you for this cage thingie. Don’t be like me and throw it away … Then 3 days later realize the perfect use. Done that countless times.

thats how i measured mine. loaded them all in one half, and tested away. will be a project for another day, but saving them. keep one on the shelf by the light stash, and one by the charger maybe for depleted cells
also saved the life meter from it haha. and got a handy dandy 40a fuse. destroyed the circuit board though. used the brute force method on it. thought thats what was holding the two halves together

I got two of them there! :D There was one left as I walked away and I saw another guy walk up to get it. thanks for the tip on their location, the guy I talked to had no idea where they were.

That thing was a PIA to take apart, I felt like I was defusing a bomb or something... So how do I get them out of the plastic carrier?

Are the tabs holding in the plastic carrier?

I have just started tearing apart the plastic carrier, I will add that these cells will also max out my DMM in my septuple XM-L. Now I finally have enough good IMR batteries to power all of my multi-XM-L P60s. ;)

I’m looking forward to seeing how they handle my xml2 and 3.5a nanj… Hopefully better than my current cells

I just have one question because I am curious and don’t have those batteries in my HD’s. Please don’t take this as an opportunity to start a Li-ion safety war. There are plenty of threads going right now for that. I think most here would just assume that type of discussion stay in those threads.

Do the battery packs appear to have cell balancing circuitry? From what I am reading, I’m getting the impression that they don’t. If not, maybe the manufacture used a type of cell that mitigates the risk. If so, those might be some tough cells. Another plus if that is the case.

Scaru, have you run a discharge test on the cells yet? Are you going to?
