SMALL SUN ZY-T16?

Is there any info on this light? It looks like the same head as the ZY-T08.

I would really prefer this design over the knobby T08.

The T16 looks the same as the ZY-T13 but takes 26650’s instead of 18650’s. The T08 and T13 share the same reflector so I assume the T16 does as well. I also much prefer carrying the slender T13 over the fat chunky T06.

Hi Joe,

The T16 is a bit underdriven, but a great light and well made. I had posted some photos and impressions of it here if you haven’t seen it.

Is it worth buying to mod?

I have two of ZY-T16.

But now if I want to mod a budget Thrower, I will get Convoy L2 DIY host instead.

I was thinking that to but ~$40 for just a host?

I bought three ZY-T13’s for $18 each, which are sunwayman T40CS clones. They deliver 2.2A to the LED but have an efficient reflector that makes it stomp all over my 4A driven C8’s. With a $0.10 cent resistor mod on the ZY-T13, it pushes 3.2A to the LED and now stomps all over my $120 sunwayman T40CS… and a lot of other very expensive throwers. There are many threads here about the ZY-T13 and how to mod it. Its the BLF bargain thrower of the year.

The ZY-T16 appears to be the same light but takes 26650’s instead of 18650’s. Id assume that they share the same driver so they should also be able to be modded the same way. I much prefer the slender and lighter T13 because it still packs well over an hour of run time on high.

That's very nice to know. I will have to do that mod if I get it.

However, the ZY-T16 is nothing like the ZY-T13. Maybe you are looking at a different one than what I am talking about?

It is definitely like the ZY-T08 though.

Ah, the heat sinking mass and front do look the same… thanks for pointing that out. The T13 and T08 share the same reflector so I assume the T16 does as well. All 3 are great lights for the price.

Is the resister mod difficult to do? I haven't modded a light before but I have a lot of experience soldering RC battery connectors.

Its very easy if you can solder so I dont think youd have any problems. Many threads already posted on the T13.
