Review: BTU Shocker (3 x XM-L T6 NW | 3 x 18650)

How long did he take to send you the invoice once you sent him the money?

Seems like you got a great deal! What do you think about the light’s performance and build quality?

Congrats on your BTU 18sixfifty, it’s an excellent light. My second order contains a Xiaozhi as well as a Balder SE-1… too bad it has sat idle for this long though… :frowning:
For those concerned about their orders, I looked back at the emails:
Mar 3 - Order placed. Could not apply coupon code, so placed order without paying
Mar 3 - Using the send message system on the order page, sent a message indicating I wanted to use the coupon on this order (EDIT, forgot this)
Mar 4 - Email from CNQG asking about unpaid order.
Mar 4 - I Replied asking how to apply coupon code
Mar 7 - I replied again to follow up. (double-checked; accidentally replied to myself; Doh!)
Mar 11 - Email from Ric indicating the order has coupon applied, I can pay balance now and email him when I have paid.
Mar 11 - Balance paid via Paypal, email sent to Ric.
Mar 18 - Email sent to Ric asking for a status update.
So far, no update via email or on the FFL web site.
I’m disappointed in the response times, especially as others are getting quick responses all the while. I’m at a loss to understand it.
For me, the key to great service is responding in a timely fashion. Even if it’s just to say, “sorry I’ve been away”, “waiting on SKU XXXX”, “My dog ate it”, whatever. It’s the response time that tells me someone is serious about their business. Looking at the CNQG rating thread (could not find a FFL thread), one of the negatives is “Reports of poor communication with buyers”. I think this fits into that category.
Anyway, I’ll still wait as I have no other way to reach Ric (he has three different emails, kind of confusing). Actually, I have to wait; $50 of the $59 in this order is from my completed BTU order.

I didn’t get an invoice. He just sent the light. As far as build it’s a rock. Other than a smudge on the lens it was 100% perfect. It is very bright inside but I haven’t gotten to take it out in the dark yet.

I sent Ric another email last night EST and he emailed me back saying he would ship my order soon, then 3 hours later he said my order was shipped and that he would give me the tracking number soon. So thats good, I’m glad. But I wonder why he wouldn’t give me the tracking number right away.

Hello guys, have a question. Why is the battery holder like this in the picture below?
Thanks!

Nothing still for me… Which email address did you send it to?

Looks like your switch has broken off. A soldering iron and a few minutes will fix it.

sales@cnqualitygoods.com

Still no tracking information from him. I’m going to email him again to ask for it.

Ok, that’s the email I’ve been using, along with others. I’ll send another reply right now. See what happens…

The switch looks like a Omten Reverse Clicky that is sold $2 for 5. If I am not mistaken, they are rated for 1.5 amps. Wondering whether they are designed to take the high load that the BTU requires.

any thoughts?

It’s designed for 1.5A, but I’m hitting one with 12.5A right now… I doubt it will last very long J)
I think they will last for a while at 3-4A.

mine came broken like this as well . you need to re-solder it back . the switch itself isnt heavy duty for high current for too long. a trying to find heavy witch for my btu

I received an email from Ric. The Balder SE1 (I had one in my order) just came back in stock yesterday, and will be shipped right away.
I knew there was a legit reason for the delay, and I wasn’t worried about losing anything. I just would have appreciated an update somewhere along the way.
Now where was that DQG18650 Preorder link

Good stuff man. I still haven’t gotten word on a tracking number. I wonder why he woudn’t give a number right away because don’t you usually get a number right away once you ship a package?

Same here, no tracking number. Would be nice, but I usually don’t use them anyway. Other than to verify that something was shipped, I do not find them reliable for finding out where a package is.

Ya I agree but as you said I want it to confirm that he actually sent the package. Because if he hasn’t then I want to dispute the money I sent him sooner rather than later.

Does anyone know the emitter size on the shocker? Are they 16mm’s?

Thinking of doing some upgrades…

Yes, original stars are 16mm, but 20mm fits as well.

Thanks the!

I remember reading here that 20mm stars (copper) were better for heat distribution than the 16mm.

Does anyone else remember that?

In theory this could be true, but I do not recall any test results that prove it. I suspect the difference would be very small.
