The EA4 has a pretty good throw so the EA8 will be awesome!

I think that if I ever find the perfect light, I will still buy more. I know. I’m sick. Always wondering if another that comes along would be more perfect. LOL.
I will also be buying a ea8. I’m wondering how the ea8 will compare with my Fenix TK41? I do love my TK41. Closest thing I have found to a do everything light.
Yeah the TK41 is a bad mofo. Really thinking about that one too. It is a sickness for sure!
Wish fenix made a 4xaa similar shape to the Pioneer.
Me too. I end up really liking AA lights. One of my favorite AA lights and favorite overall and most used lights is my Jetbeam PA 40. Doesn’t throw real far, 100 yards or so but it has plenty of useable light and a very low mode. I wish it would tailstand better but I’m liking the way the light feels in the hand and the carbon fiber body doesn’t feel as cold to the touch when it’s cold outside. My favorite 2xAA light is my Shingingbeam Caveman.
I like my TK41… 
The 2x2 battery arrangement of the pa40 /e40/ ld40 /ld41 is different. The long flat shape is OK, but its the 4x cube arrangement of the ea4 /ea8 /tk41 that I really want. Fenix needs to make a 4xAA that is short and fat and tailstands (unlike the 40 models!).
I am even considering 3xAA format too. Like I said, I really do like my Rook (aside from the parasitic drain… had to address that with electric tape). Would prefer 4x, but 3x triangle stack form factor is really close. Fits my hand nicely.
Always liked the Cyclone C88, but they had QC issues with late units… and apparently Intl Outdoors doesn’t sell it anymore! 
Archon M30A is perfect form factor and UI, but the price is a tad highish given that: the emitter is not my first choice, and overall quality seems a little questionable for the price.
Ultrafire/Aurora 3xAA have sketchy reviews. Quality seems subpar. Form factor & UI not as nice as Archon. Can’t stand epileptic seizure modes.
Olight S35 and S65 batons are VERY nice, but a tad spendy for me. And I think their max output is a little low for my liking if I drop that kind of change. Modes could be better.
SWM M40A is insanely nice. Beautiful. Out of my league. I would be afraid to take it out from under hermetically sealed glass display.
So yeah…. no real awesome 3x BUDGET option that ticks all my boxes. Damn. If the Archon could be had with a neutral XM-L T6 3C I would probably buy two! But as far as I can find it does not exist and it doesn’t seem like anyone mods them.
Yes! Order placed 3/22 from Fasttech. Order shipped 3/23. Order received 3/29! This thing is awesome in Neutral white! It’s nice and heavy and built like a brick house. I’m throughly impressed with my first expensive flashlight purchase. When I say “expensive” I mean by my standards.
Can’t stand it any longer. Going over to GoingGear tomorrow to buy an EA4 before the 15% off sale ends. Let you know what I think.

Picked up my EA4. I got one of the XM L2 lights. So far I am inpressed. This little sucker is bright. Went into the bathroom and closed the door to have total darkness. Ceiling bounce is slightly brighter than my FenixTK41. Didn’t think that was possible with such a small light. This baby is a keeper.
I’m considering getting an EA4 NW. Just read this whole thread and thought I’d throw in my 2 cents on the subject of Minimum Advertised Price that was brought up earlier in the thread.
There was some mention of “Price fixing”. I don’t believe Minimum Advertised Price is price fixing and here’s why:
Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) is the lowest price a dealer can advertise the item for, not the lowest price the dealer can sell the item for.
There was some mention of Nitecore controlling what a dealer can sell their lights for. I don’t believe the MAP dictates what price the dealer can sell the item for, it only dictates what price the dealer can advertise the item for. A dealer can sell the item for any price lower that MAP they want, they can even give it away free or sell it for 2 cents (Pun intended) if they want, they just cannot advertise it for less than MAP.
I often see (with other merchandise not flashlights) where the dealer lists the MAP for an item on their website then adds the line “place item in cart to see your special price” or “please email us for your price”. The practice seems fairly common with other online merchandise. The dealer just finds a creative way to let customers know their actual selling price without listing the lower price in their ad’s or on the item page online.
I don’t think Fasttech would have had to raise the actual price they can sell this for when Nitecore warned them, it could be that all they had to do was put the MAP in the listing with a line under it to message them to receive a discount code to be used at checkout, and promote the coupon code on the forums, that kind of thing spreads like wildfire on here! :money_mouth_face: .
MAP is used by companies to level the playing field for their dedicated dealers. It’s usually used by manufactures that have a network of direct dealers (their merchandise is sold only through authorized dealers) as opposed to manufactures that just sell their merchandise through distributors with no MAP (where just about any business can buy them to resale and advertise any price)
I’m not saying these are the facts for this particular situation, these are only my thoughts and opinion based on my knowledge of MAP from previously owning a retail store selling electronics merchandise. I was an authorized dealer for several lines that had MAP.

Some companies don’t follow MAP because they get their products from the grey market, and the manufacturer can’t directly control them because they don’t buy directly.
Good point, yes that is an issue for the legitimate dealers. That’s when the manufacture should try and do something to stop it.
Consumers should be aware if they buy from unauthorized dealers at a lower price they take a chance on whether they are getting a genuine product, unknowingly getting “B” stock, receiving the proper customer support for returns, exchanges and warranty.
Sometimes people see a great price somewhere on something they want and fail to consider these things because they are temporarily “blinded” by the price.
For the above reasons I’m willing to pay a little more to buy from an authorized dealer for products that have an established dealer network. Anyone who decides to buy something from an unauthorized seller at a lower price should know and assume the risks involved.

A very good question, I have no idea, Thinking about that more now I doubt it. Never saw any advertised as such. Although it certainly is common with other electronics products. Maybe someone else on here knows.
What do manufactures like Nitecore and Sunwayman do with lights that were returned for problems and the customer was sent out a brand new light. What happens to the returns? Are they Junked? stripped out for parts? rebuilt to new spec and re sold as new? or “refurbished” and resold as refurbs? I’m sure they wouldn’t just sell them unless they were refurbished to work like new or it would hurt their reputation. What about ones with a cosmetic only defect, are they sold as “B” stock?
Are any of those companies members here? Any reps or someone who works for them on here could answer?
