DQG 18650 EDC--World's Smallest 18650 Flashlight

Thanks. Good to know.

You should be able to check your order history either at their website, or you can also look in your Paypal history.

Size: (listed in OP)…………………91mm(Length)*26mm(head diameter)*24.5mm(tube diameter)

Size: (listed on FF website)……….90mm(Length)*25mm(head diameter)*22mm(tube diameter)

Which size is correct?

Forgive me if this has already been covered here, I read this whole thread twice and don’t recall seeing it, (but with nearly 300 posts I guess I could have missed it)

the op was a prototype… who knows what changed since though. color for one

Look like the production model has shrunk a bit over the OP. That makes it even more compact for EDC. Hopefully there’s no reduction in output though!365 out of 500 left at pre-order price and 5 days more to go!

If I could pre order one from the original post, I would… But the two offerings now do nothing for me.

Have to agree that the color of the prototype was much more appealing…

Wonder how it would come out if baked ?

I actually quite like the new ‘titanium’ color. I’m not a fan of gold, but it looks more like an olive/natural to me mixed with a little bronze.
It’s nicer than black in type II anyway imo.

By the way, I asked Ric a couple of questions and he says that it has low voltage protection set at 2.5v. He also said that the XM-L2 beam is ‘perfect’ while the T6 3C is ‘very good too’. Implying a slightly better beam profile on the XM-L2, which I would have expected from the lack of current spreaders on the die.

The XM-L version will probably have a lower vf though and he didn’t get back to me on whether it has a boost or just linear driver.

I have a couple of questions about this light. I thought I had read at first that they were all coming out with TIR optics, then I kind of got the impression that only the NW were going to have the optics. If I am not mistaken the optics being used in whichever or both lights is an 11 degree TIR right? This is supposed to be a throwy optic? Sorry I know nothing about TIR optics. I have ordered the XM-L2 CW version and am just curious what I will be getting. I have read the entire thread a couple of times but am still not real clear. Thanks in advance.
Rick

11 degrees is a quite narrow optic, but don't expect a thrower here. I see no information about the optic being other than TIR.

What type of science would go into changing the optic if possible to one that’s more flood? I saw a couple with 60° or so.

I skimmed through the posts and didn’t see this info. I currently use protected sanyo ur18650f which are almost 70mm long. I don’t want to order the light and find out my batteries won’t fit.

personally I like the gold color. Gonna pre-order one for SWMBO and see how it looks then might have to have a black one too.

Preorder is on fancyflashlights site.

yeah found it right after i said it. one of them moments.

you may have missed the first post ;-) , it says protected batteries fit.

Was quoted somewhere in this mess 65mm - 69 mm. And 18700 would NOT fit. I know, I have a few 70mm myself but luckily i have a few others too. I can try my ur18650f protected batteries and post if you like, well once i get my light that is.

Glad I checked back here. Almost missed the first wave but got mine ordered today!! Darn, thought I was subscribed here……oops. Oh well either way I am diggin getting the smallest 18650 light with multiple modes and XM-L2 for $30. HUGE Thanks. Really hope to see this light materialize for all of soon though. I HATE Waiting……

Would be interesting if this light came with a selection of optics to choose from, having the ability to change the beam profile would give it some real utility value.

This, awesome idea!
