Making a 12-Up out of Mini-Mags and Nichias. It's Finished and BEAM SHOTS are up now!!

I think I really have no choice other than to go with each battery direct to one star. I just do not have the room for 18 wires in that center tube and 18 wires would leave more room for my constant errors. Wiring the first example cuts down 8 wires that would go out the side of the heads. I can manage the rest (I think).

It's the lesser of two evils, although I would rather do it the way in the second example.

Actually, with the two metal plates, it sits well on the table and it would not roll on it's own, even on a slight angle.

This thing is gonna be pretty bad ass. You ideas never cease to amaze me.

{slow clap}

Well done, sir....well done.

Now you did it… now I’m thinking about reworking the Gadget. Yours is a much more elegant solution, and mine weighs a ton. Beautiful job so far!

Your wiring dilemma is the reason I outputted the tailcaps in parallel to an external switch. With one switch, the drivers don’t get ‘out of sync’ with modes and if one does when changing batteries, I just cycle the appropriate plug in and out.

Rich

Justin, you are frightening me...AGAIN!!!

NICE!! Dan.

04-01-13 The OP has been Updated... Again.

Ok. I'm not following but still reading. No, I'm following but not following but reading. Gees this thread is confusing. I dont understand much but following looking and reading. Damn theres that following word again. Is there anything to follow here. I give up. Thanks OL for a confusing thread. I recall somewhere above that you were having a hard time as well. Ah, I feel better now. Were all confused.

Well, MRsDNF, they say "lead, follow or get the hell out the way", so at least you are following. I know what I am doing.UndecidedUndecidedSealed

All the heads are wired up and now they have to sit to let the Fujik dry. I can possibly get the bodies cut down and threaded tonight.

You need to rewire it all… power and ground can’t flow through striped wires… it makes the electrons all dizzy as they go whizzing by. J)

BTW, I got in the Maglight module today. Many thanks. Hopefully it will fix my friend’s dead light.

I highly doubt the electrons will be any dizzier than I already am.

Another fascinating project in the making! Thanks so much for the detailed explanation and meticulous photo tour. This one goes Frontpage and into the “Featured Mods” section.

sb56637 - Thank You

The OP has been updated again. Bodies are cut down and the switch is ready.

Sb's correct, and I couldn't have said it any better.

O.L. YOU are AMAZING and an inspiration to our community !!

Thanks for sharing!!!

Seconded!

I never cease to be amazed by what Justin can do with only hand tools.

Pushing the envelope… aggressively.

I did locate 4 matched 14500’s so if no one in TGST can help, pm me and I’ll pop them in the mail. eBay Paisen cells but 3.7V Liion.

The light is done!

@RBD - Thank you, but I want to use IMR. I do not think anything else will give me 3 amps per battery. If worse comes to worse, I will buy four of the Efest, but I will wait to see what everyone says. I think they will have to be IMR, to give the full potential to the light.

That second last shot came as a bit of a surprise. In my deference I have never had anything to do with Mag lights. How small are they. I’m looking forward to your beam shots. Did you think of maybe putting a handle on it. This may help to prevent it rolling as well as something to hold the torch(s) with. Again you have raised the bar in my book with your own ingenious style. Thanks.
