XM-L U2 green , an accident

The UF G10 kill me two emitters, well , my dumb behavior did it...

The first dedomed XM-L I thought it was because the rigid isolator which push the dome breaking it.

With the second emitter dedomed I realized the the problem lie in the reflector's hole which fit so tight that the different metal dilatation kill it...

The first was badly ruined with dark parts in the die and an uneven beam , with yellow, blue and white spots mixed, the second become pleasantly green...

I realized it while measuring the output in the light box notice a sag from 800 L to around 600L with the light coming some kind green and warm...some guy in other site found more brightness in a dedomed emitter , here is the opposite , at least at this current ,2A.

I've only heard of more throw from a dedomed emitter from SST LEDs. The total output drops even with the SSTs but the throw improves.

Most aspheric lights (All of the ones I own) lose 50% of total output on full zoom (Tightest beam)

You are right, I got it wrong because forget the reflector issue , it's about throw which apparently increase.

He say that the dome is fragile because become frosted after some spray was used, well the dome clearly is rubberized silicone or something like that which take the shape even of the wires as the pic below show...feel rubber like.

Just in case from Cree's literature,

Chemicals Tested as Harmful
In testing, Cree has found the following chemicals to be harmful to XLamp XR family LEDs. Cree recommends not using these chemicals anywhere in an LED system containing XLamp XR family LEDs. The fumes from even small amounts of these chemicals may damage the LEDs.
• Chemicals that might outgas aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g., toluene, benzene, xylene)
• Methyl acetate or ethyl acetate (i.e., nail polish remover)
• Cyanoacrylates (i.e., “Superglue”)
• Glycol ethers (including Radio Shack® Precision Electronics Cleaner - dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether)
• Formaldehyde or butadiene (including Ashland PLIOBOND® adhesive)
• Dymax 984-LVUF conformal coating
• Loctite Sumo Glue
• Gorilla Glue
• Clorox bleach
• Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner spray
• Loctite 384 adhesive
• Loctite 7387 activator
• Loctite 242 threadlocker

I really do hate those rubbery domes, they get mucky easily and don't clean well. I'm also not convinced they are optically as good as resin.

Arenat where did you get your xm-l u2 from?

That looks so green.

Flashlightfoy xm-l u2 drop-in from KD is pure white.

Look green because the layer of phosphor were lost , originally it was very cool white, , below a pic of another which lost part of it.

This one has now a layer of resin but still have three colors mixed.
