New Build/Mod. Can A Humble Defiant 3C Trounce The Mighty TN31?

Holy Cow!!! Sweet build as always! That is awesome. It so bright it hurts might eyes in the pictures!!!

You need a lux meter!!!

Thanks for posting

EDIT - Tell us how far!!! I would believe you,

I honestly would no longer call that a Defiant 3C as there is like only 1% of the original left, lol.

Now THAT is how a build thread is done.

I'm in awe of the knurling, the heatsink, well....the whole bloody light !!

Excellent workmanship! I really love the knurling. Nice to see you finished modding that 3C light, (for now). I would say that is a massive heat sink. Time to put an SST-90 in it and go for 12 amps or so.

Sshhh. I was hoping no one would notice. Is it that obvious.

Ok apt323, as agent 86 would say, would you believe that it shone to the moon.

And no anodizing? Thanks OL. Cheers.

impressive mod! lets see some shots with the big boys

awesome. It is a 3c, you can tell from the head and reflector :stuck_out_tongue: I’d sooner have that than some boring factory light any day

Nice Light, you clearly have Talent for it. TN31’s have a MUCH smaller hotspot than yours, so if yours throws anywhere near as far, it will be a much more usable Thrower.
Cheers and Well Done.

So I've been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to come up with a response to seeing this amazing work...I'm at a loss for words.

How long did this take you?

Eh, would you believe it shone to New Zealand. But seriously Chief, that is one serious mod. Wow! About as different from what I do as is possible. Can’t touch that!

+1 It’s amazing what a talented individual with will power can do. That is a work of art and hard-core kick assery perfectly merged.

You definitely need to take off the black ano on the head and leave the whole light silver!

Oh and after that sell it to me.

Awesome machine work! I gots to get me a lathe.

Spectacular !

I'm JacktheClipper , and I approve of this build .

WOW!

You really outdid yourself on this one! Fabulous work on the knurling, pill, heatsink, threads….well hell man it’s just an awesome piece of work! Great pics too, really tells the story.

Handheld spotlight, for sure. Well done!

Very nice work. Looks a little nicer in its medium sized versions.

Now that’s what I’d call rocket science!

Great build, it's a beauty! It looks best with all four tubes B-). I also think you should take off the ano of the head. I am curious about the numbers, what does it put out and what is the throw?

Very Impressive! Interesting you get 5.6A to the LED (tailcap * 4) out of an IOS 5 amp driver, but I think I got well over the rated amps from the 7 LED IOS driver too, with 3 26650's. Amazing what a lathe and lots of skill can do! Great Job!!

It would be great to get some measured #'s from it, if possible. With all that copper and heat sinking, you should be able to well over 6 amps - 8 amps sounds good at 2 amps/battery, but proably wouldn't benefit all that much.
