REVIEW: A8 BLF Edition - 1x26650 - XM-L T6 NW

You will not find anything on it, which tells you CW or NW. Can you compare it with another flashligt of your own, which is CW or NW? If not, make a picture of a beamshot (white wall would be great) and post it.

I will say its a whole lot whiter than my SC600W…A whole lot.
I had a NW P32UE for a while and while it was a tad whiter than the SC600w, I would have called that neutral….
This one I would have a hard time accepting as neutral…that and the box had CW written on it….
No matter, I am not putting the guy through a return or whatever the solution is, I’ll end up selling it and the One 26650 cell I own.
Tony

Rey just emailed that he didnt have enough boxes and that I got an NW in a CW box…

Bad luck buddy, all ran out.

Ric/Vivian said there was no more NW, and I said that CW was totally fine.
And then I got NW, lol.

hard for me to tell which I got…I just feels its more cool than neutral
It’ll be up for sale…

for how much?

I posted in the for sale thread…basically what i have into it, plus a cheap IMR tossed in

What kind of tailcap readings are people getting on the BLF A8 (or the BLF A8 driver if you bought those)? I'm seeing differing numbers and am curious what to expect out of my unused BLF A8 driver. _the_ reported up to 3.85A in his review sample. CD reports only 2.74A in the O.P.

Thanks,
Garry

Just measured mine, it maxes out at 2.3A @ 4.17V with a freshly charged unprotected KingKong 26650.

Might be a black sheep, but I'm still quite happy.

Hmm . . . thanks for checking yours. I think I'm just going to have to check mine. I also suspect each driver could vary, so just because my A8 reads one value, doesn't mean my drivers will read the same.

Mine was also 2.2-2.3a if I remember right. It was lower than I was expecting I know that much. I’ll check mine again tonight when I get home

It depends on the battery/batteryvoltage as it is direct drive through a fet on high.
Mine is about 3A with fresh charged batteries(soshine 26650) with batteries at 4V I get 2.7A below its rapidly decreasing current.

I have a spare driver laying around too but found no home for him yet.

The fenix diffuser fits after some grinding and makes it a really nice lantern with awesome runtimes on low.

Ok, I got my new meter today (which needs to go back for an exchange due to a loose GND jack) and so I checked my BLF A8 with a freshly charged TF Flame 26650:

High-2.61A

Med-0.83A

Low-0.033A

Moon-0.004A

These numbers aren't too bad. I hope my extra drivers are at least this high.

The night is still young.

This is an interesting looking light, might be fun to play with and maybe mod… Anyone looking to part with one?

Matt

Not looking to part with mine.

Actually I’ve been using my A8 BLF more and more recently. The 26650 format is a little too chunky for pocket carry. But around the house or in a coat it works very well.

The longer runtime of the 26650 is also massively noticeable over newer high amp 18650 lights.

My only real complaint with the A8 after all this time and it’s a minor one, if a slightly untidy beam around the edges and a smallish overall spill beam area.

But it is arguably the ‘best’ BLF light thus far with no real vices or major negatives that I’ve encountered.

You may have better luck making a “WTB” post in the proper forum. I did that a few months ago and had a forum member come forward willing to sell his. Its really still a great light, even though its a few years old, and is worth seeking out. Prepare your wallet though - nobody seems to be parting with those for cheap.

I really like tube or nearly tube lights. I just acquired an old UF-2200 that is going to get minor mods, nothing to radical do not want a lot of heat. Just after an newer emitter and AR glass, I am really thinking a FET would be to much for it. It is running 105c with 8 7135’s, I may add 2 or 3 more.

Price… I had to break out the wallet for an original X6, but I really wanted it and love it. Modes are not perfect, but that beam sure is. That A6 forced me to build 2 more, one tame and one is a rocket!

I may post in the WTT section, after my next pay check goes in.

I do see that Fasttech still lists them as well, but no BLF on them… :frowning:
Trustfire A8

Thanks Matt

I love my BLF A8, I own over a hundred lights, some of them big dollar high output lights, but the BLF A8 is the one I grab more often than not. It’s just a great all round light, with great run time and more than enough light for most applications. Never selling this one!

My first true warm tint light, made me understand what all the whoopla was about.
The logo isn’t level on it, but what the hell, like you said, It Ain’t For Sale

Later,
Keith

I did finally get one, agreed not going anywhere!
