It looks a bit more neutral in person. I consider the tint slightly cooler than a Nichia 219.
This light is very useful. The spot is huge so as a medium range searchlight it works well. It cuts through haze so the beam itself isn’t in the way. The spill is great, nicely even and wide.
It looks like you’ve created the perfect compact flood monster. I love your driver mod. How long can you run it on high before it gets to hot or the cells start to sag?
I forgot to add that to the post. The driver has thermal protection, so it steps down after about 5 minutes or so. Without the resistor mod it should go longer.
I will do a thermal test tomorrow and update the post.
This light is very useable on medium, which would run for about two hours.
Came out great! Good idea, Great Job relic38! I thought I might not be the first - the T08 has a nice size reflector, 2 batts, cavernous driver area, good heat sinking, exc. host for this, or experimentation. Just finished a de-dedomed XM-L2/SinkPAD high amp T08 - came out well.
Wow! Nice mod relic! How about the Small Sun ZY-T16 as a host (basically a T13 with 26650's)? Or maybe put an MT-G2 in a bike light with a 2S2P battery pack! That would make an excellent cycling light!
relic38 - man, that solder blob trick is cool. Don't think I could have done all the stuff you did for converting parallel to series... wow. I see you solder wicked the springs - makes a measurable difference on the two T08's I mod'ed - seen that over the weekend.
That looks indeed like small sun! Well done. As I see more mods done with the mtg2 I am really growing into this led. If they only were not that expensive to obtain....
