I thought I'd post a few pics of the KD "Solarforce" L2m I got in the mail today since I don't have much to add to the two reviews posted on KD. Personally, I prefer 14500 over 16340 for my EDC lights so while I doubt that this torch will find its way in my rotation, I still think it's a great deal for the money. Fit and finish are impressive, considering that I paid less than 20 bucks shipped for this bad boy, mode memory works perfectly and almost instantly and based on what I can tell, it puts out plenty of light as well: it's still too early to tell for sure but I did try it out in the underground parking garage at work and according to the super-cheap multimeter, it pulls 2.5 amps from a fresh TF flame 16340.
Thanks, Johnny! Yup, I ordered mine on the 8th as well. According to HKP's tracking site, it left Hong Kong on May 18th so, good job, Hong Kong Post. :) Certainly beats the coated lens I ordered from KD, which I got after exactly three months (as a matter of fact, I had totally forgotten about it by then).
sure, no problem. :) I don't have a camera or either light on me and I won't be home until sometime tomorrow but I can tell you that the fake L2m is just a tad bit cooler than my 3-mode Manafont XM-L drop in. The difference isn't huge but it's noticeable.
I have the MF dropin in a Skyray S-R5 host with a SMO reflector and the thing that stands out most, is that the hotspot is more pronounced, compared to the L2m with its OP reflector and not the different color temperature. The tint is pretty white on both and prettty much what I've come to expect from XM-Ls in budget lights, with no blues or greens and overall rather cool. Maybe I'm just a bit spoiled, since I don't mind cooler tints at all.
Thanks. I actually like the slightly more neutral tints. I bought a MF ultrafire first mostly because I don't want flashy modes. The SF drop in is supposed to be very slightly warmer but I'm not sure how much. But for the same $20 this includes a L2m host. I'd hop on it right away if it wasn't for that I already have a L2m (which came with the extension so I use it like a regular l2 right now), but maybe next when I'm feeling I need another xml drop in.
