today i got the ,i never had similar light before (sk68 family),but i really liked this one.
from the tail i got 0.01a low and 1.15 high with a AW IMR 18650
the pill of this flashlight is similar to a C8 ,20mm driver and 20mm led star(a c8 pill cant be installed,you cant screw it but its the same size)
a small - of this flashlight is that the pill has a hole where the star led sits and between tha star and the pill there is no paste at all.
the lens is plastic and it tail stands,also its clip is really usefull.

Thanks nofearek9, sounds like a decent light. Too bad about the hollow pill. At 1.1A I doubt it will be an issue. A couple of simple mods can get that up over 2A easily. I wonder if the other model on FT has a hollow pill…

i might mod it with a accidently xml2 dedomed in sinkpads,to see if it will throw better .now about the pill which is aluminum i dont know if i will be able to solder another driver in it.

It is very difficult to solder to aluminum. People have shown that dedomed emitters throw better in an aspheric light, but I do not understand how. I thought more light went to the sides which helped reflector lights, not aspheric lights. I must be missing something.

I think it’s just making the light more pinpoint at the point of origin that increases the throw. You know how when you zoom in a zoomie you get the die picture on the wall? Well it gets smaller and brighter when it’s de-domed. It’s slightly less bright overall but that little spot of light is brighter.

I wish I knew a trick on how to better solder to aluminum it’s always hit or miss for me.

Ahh, OK. The spot gets smaller and even with the lost lumens, the surface intensity still goes up. Makes sense now.
I usually end up soldering a small tin strip or two on the edge of the driver and folding it over the edge of the driver. When you push it in, the strip makes real good contact with the aluminum. I’ve tested this method and at 3A I measured about 4mV of drop from pill to driver. Basically a dead short.
I got my tin strips from protection PCB removal. You can probably use a few pieces of thin gauge wire as well.


i late a bit but here is a better pic of the driver from the ultrafire sk98

i noticed it had 2 “out+” ,when i connected the second one i got around 3amps on high from the tailcap so it might be direct drive.(it will get really hot after a while)
the led has been replaced with xml2 dedomed on fasttech copper pcb,now its a small rocket.

also if you connect the 2 dots in the 0R area you will get a 5 mode driver H/M/L/stro/sos,i also added a resistor on top of the capacitor to get rid of the memory.
