Ordered Romisen rc t601 from lightmalls.com and...

….recieved it today. -Doesnt work. I popped a fresh battery in, no luck. Took it apart to inspect for damage, it all looks pretty. At first when I clicked it, it flashed a few times and then came on strong, but once I clicked it off and then back on its just been dead. Maybe a problem in the switch? Tried a different battery, no luck. Waited 2 weeks to get it and now what a dissapointment. We’ll see how lightmalls is on their returns/exchange policy….

So now Ive let a battery sit in it for a couple hours and now it clicks on and off and cycles through the modes fairly well, but its not reacting perfectly to the clicks. This is weird….

sounds like the tail switch is loose, try stripping and reassembling it.

Yup.

Ok, will try that tonight. Thx

Before you try stripping the tailcap switch, and easy way to try to isolate it to the switch is to:

- Remove the tailcap

- Put a battery into the light

  • Using a piece of wire, jumper between the negative end of the battery and an un-anodized part (plain uncoated metal- typically the threads) of the light

and see if the light comes on. If it does, try removing the wire quickly and touching quickly. This simulates pushing the button, so you can see if the light will go through the modes.

If all that works, then it’s definitely the tailcap switch.

If all that still doesn’t work, then it’s not the tailcap switch, but something else other than the tailcap switch.

Aha

Ok. Update. I tried the wire test. No bueno. As a noob, I dontthink I really know how to take apart the tail switch cap( it all looks pretty solidly placed in there) the weird thing is, after the first night with a battery sitting in it, it came on and cycled through pretty well as well as turned on and off on demand. BUT, the next day, I worked (today) I took it apart to show another officer and when I put it back together it didnt work. And as of now, it is still dead as a perp with a knife… Haha cop humor. I thinki’m just going to have to send it back unlrdd anyone knowd an easy fix…. All the wire connections are nice and solid. Ahhh, this sucks!

Hi,

If you tried the test that was suggested (the wire test) and you got no light, then it probably means that it’s something “up front”… either the driver, or the emitter (LED), or some connection in that area, so probably the best thing might be to get it back to the dealer. Did you buy it from a U.S. dealer?

Edit: Sorry - just saw the subject… from lightmalls. That’s too bad, since they’re overseas :(.

Yeah, its gonna take a while… Bummer

Wrote their service dept so we’ll see what kind of response I’ll get… Hopefully it won’t be too difficult. : (

Its too bad ’cause this thing was a beast when it worked-ahhh!!

Sending it back for an exchange. Ordered a Ultrafire C8-T6 off ebay to hold me over… Figured WTH for$10.99 total and shipped from CAL…
