The Sky-Ray King Thrower Mod........ It's Finished! Beam shots are up

Have you considered building a drop-out battery carrier? In this case with the shorter cells and loading it from the rear the front contact board would have to be a cloverleaf shape to clear the ID-shape of the stock tube, but the rear could be just plain round as it wouldn't need to pass through the flutes. With a single fatter-than-normal threaded standoff (I've seen it in 1/4" hex, would be plenty strong enough) thru the center to tie them together. That stuff is available in brass, so it could be soldered at the ends which would be more secure than a single screw with one central standoff.

Nice to see the build back on track!

Tail cap and contact plate assembly is now done. Photos in the OP show how to turn the SRK tail cap into a Nitecore Tail Cap.

Youā€™ve had the old grey matter working overtime on this one. I dont think you would be happy if a mod just worked. Nicely done.

Yup, if thereā€™s an easy way, I just would not want to do it. Takes all the fun out of it.

Brilliant solution to the tailcap issue, Justin! You 'da man!

Very nicely implemented tailcap solution.

this mod is AWESOME looking already

what driver/current are you going to go for?

DrJones 3 amp lumodrv driver with six extra chips. 5100mA.

WOW nice!

I did about all I can do today with the LED, star and other components. Photos in the OP.

Now I wait for the driver to show up the end of next week... Maybe.

Heehee I spot your mistakeā€¦The emitterā€™s +ve and -ve are reversed

His greatness is flawed! He is fallible!

Yup, little dot on the emitter is the negative. Iā€™ve never made that mistakeā€¦ 0:)

thereā€™s the emitter rverse polarity and Iā€™m assuming power get to the emitter via bluetoothā€¦ā€¦ J) 0:)

It was one of those days. The kind of day when the wife just goes and hides with the cat. That mistake was just one of several "issues" that morning. It doesn't make any diffference really, as long as I don't forget and hook up the wires wrongrightimeanwrong, when I have forgotten in a day or so.

just use an xacto knife to knock the vertical legs off the +, then mark a vertical line through the neg with a magic marker so you donā€™t forget.

The light is finished. Photos and text added in the OP. Beam shots tonight.

Sweet!

ā€œOh well, it is still very bright and somewaht unique.ā€

Somewhat unique? You set the bar to high Old-Lumens. It is very unique. I love it.
What do you personally think about the Dr Jones driver?

@RaceR86

I like the DrJones driver. I just like the idea of ramping up or down in an easy manner. That way I can set the brightness to where I feel it should be, instead of someone's preset. Plus, it comes from another member and I like that idea too.

Do you or anyone know if there is a video out there, complete guide to how the UI works?
It sounds fairly complicated when I read about it here , but that may not be the case.
