DQG 18650 EDC--World's Smallest 18650 Flashlight

More of an EDC then a SC52 or the XIAOZHI?

Hi Guys ,

Here is to inform you that the factory made a mistake when assemblying DQG 18650 O ring,Which makes the beam a bit ringy (as “the” said in his post).

Here is the right way to install Head-O-Ring.

Below is the Optic lens picture, The O ring should be installed to The “Green” position.

Could you please take out the head o ring and install it again? It will make the beam perfect.

It’s very easy. Only 2 steps

1. Take the Head O-Ring off

2. Install the O-ring to Right position.

Thanks
Ric

Are you saying that the O-ring is in one position (green?) and to move it to a different position (blue?)? It’s hard to see the lines on the interior of your drawing.

Edit: Or did you mean to move it from the blue position to the green position? FYI, I don’t have the lights yet, so can’t visualize it :).

Wouldn't the ring in the blue position be a lot smaller though?

No. The O-ring was installed between TIR and bezel, but it should be between TIR and body.

I'm currently testing the effects of this change.. Please stay tuned.

My guess is that it means that now the o-ring is just in front of the tir but should be just behind the tir. (without having received the light )

(edit: you beat me to that _the_ )

Yes. That really helps! No visible rings and wider, smoother, more even flood. :)

CW updated, NW original:

Both updated:

CW change as mouseover (mouse over for updated):

..and a bonus tint comparison DQG Tiny 18650 CW vs. Olight S20:

Unscrew bezel

Remove TIR lens

Take O ring off the groove on the front of the lens

Insert lens into bezel then drop O ring into place on the back of the lens

Put the bezel back on……done

Yes, it’s much smaller than the Xiaozhi, but not as tactile (not tactical) as the C303.
I don’t have an SC52, but do have these:

DQG AA, 270-T80, Xiaozhi, Convoy S2, DQG Tiny 18650, UF-2100, C303, Ultrafire S5, Small Sun ZY-C1 (16340)

Hi RIC,

Actually, so this brings up a question: The original place where the O-ring was had a groove, like it was meant to have an O-ring there. Since we’re removing the O-ring from the TIR lens, is the water-proofing still intact? Seems like water could enter from the front of the lens?

Thanks, and thanks also for these lights!

Jim

BTW, the clip looks very nice!

Wow! Much nicer hotspot and flood area now

I’m a little confused. Are we using BOTH white o-rings. The one wrongly installed at the factory AND the one that came loose in the box? The first one going behind the lens instead of in the groove in front of the lens. And the second one going on the threads connecting the upper body to the bezel as shown in Ohaya’s picture?

I think it’s not both, but rather move the one that is on/around the TIR lens to the threaded area, but then, there’s the question I posted about what waterproofs the lens/bezel area.

Apparently when the O-ring was around the TIR lens, it was causing some rings on the beamshots.

Thanks for the measurements. Well that’s bizarre—the black version has a larger tube diameter?? Why would they bother to machine a different tube for the outer coating? Unless it was outsourced and the manufacturer allowed some variance in the boring.

I do not have the light yet, but I'm sure the o-ring does not go around the threading (photo is wrong), but goes around the underside of the tir. When the bezel is screwed on it sits on top of the head part, not around it.

OK, so the white o-ring that came in the box is just a spare and is not needed on the threads.

Thanks djozz

Hi,

Oh. You’re right. That makes more sense plus answers my question (also matches RIC’s original drawing, I think):

I got two lights, and there’s one extra white O-ring, and a different number of the smaller black O-rings in the boxes.
