True. :P Sadly the MK-802 doesn't support bluetooth (no hardware and doesn't support a bluetooth adapter). I still think Fasttech should release an iphone version (preferably one for jailbroken iphones with a quick access toggle).
Man FastTech keeps kicking tail. I'm curious about the development process and who was all involved. I don't need to drop another $60 on any light, but this looks quite impressive. Cool to see that it separately turns on 7135s as well.
No offense but adding a BT interface isnât really that difficult in the large gist of things. It would require redesigning drivers from the traditional norm but it could easily be done by the right people. People have been putting BT programming units on things longer than you might have thought of ;).
Making the Appâs to control it and the code to interface with it may very well be able to be controlled by the person/corp who made it, however others could just as well make their own.
It looks cool, however I would still like the full metal + AR coating. Is there a way to have it so that itâs programmable, but not really useable outside of a few inches? The choice of host (Body thickness/Mounting, rings, etc) might make a difference too. Or an external antenna could be routed, or wrapped around in the body.
Unfortunately, Apple requires MFI and thus Apple tax to access Bluetooth data functionalities on iOS. We might be able to use it on Jailbroken phones but there may be potential legal hassles.
Looking at our internal work logs it seem that the problem was addressed a few days ago but not published on the Play Store. Itâs published now so go ahead and update the app to see if itâs gone.
The app is simple and to the point. If there are quirks weâll definitely work them out as soon as we can. I do understand your eagerness to see it but Iâm not sure if there will be an alpha/beta since the actual release is only a few days away.
At first, I LOL when you said âantennaâ, but that might be a great idea! What they could do is make a lanyard with the antenna in the lanyard? That way itâd be unobtrusive, but still provide the signal reception improvement? Iâm not a radio engineer, but I wonder if thatâd work?
Maybe be you could have a *nix version. That way the Mac folks wouldnât have to buy a Windows license to have your app (not me, I donât use Macs ?
I just want to let users here know since there's a lot of enthusiast but not having a $10 coupon.
If there's a way to transfer coupon, I'll give mine since I am likely not to use it for this light (just out of my budget this time). PM me if there's a way ;)
It's 4Sevens that came fist with the idea of a BT in a flashlight, not the same as FT though. $sevens said their flashlight is coming late this year because the patents needs to be aquired. And as I know this sort of patents are really slow to get in serious countries, I do not know about China.
Yes Windows app offers all the configuration functionalities except for cloud and team support. The Android app should theoretically work with Android 2.1+ but itâs not guaranteed since the only device that we thoroughly tested it on are Android Honeycomb, ICS and JB.
Really nice idea, I can see it growing in the future. I think the main issue as shown above will be making enough software to keep everyone happy. There are some many formats, how will fasttech keep up?
I would assume that they have some kind of team/organization thatâs focused on this area, vs. their ânormalâ business, because I donât think that they could have come out with a product or product family like Asgard (with all the surrounding infrastructure, including the website) âout of thin airâ.
I would also guess that theyâre leveraging their existing relationships with manufacturers, e.g., using the Small Sun (or whoever is the real OEM for Small Sun) host, etc.
maybe those interested could find a third party to code an app for jail broken ios?
i should have thought of the ios and BT issue. i have a BT code scanner/sensor reader for my car and an app on my phone that reads all the codes, and all the sensor data. my buddy at work wanted one but had an iphone. i phone doesnt allow data transfer over BT the same as android. for the same data tranfer he would have needed a wifi code scanner, which cost something like $100, compared to the $10-15 the BT one cost me
Flat top batteries notice:
If your batteries are completely flat top (i.e. the positive end does not extrusion at all), youâll need some magnetic tabs to make them work with this flashlight.
