Where to get a good price for a Fenix TK70 or TK75?

I have been looking for a good thrower light to use in looking for animal incursions on my farm. My wonderful SkyRay King cost less than US$50, but doesn’t have the range that I need for some situations.

After reading lots of reviews and discussions, it seems that the best option for a serious thrower would be one of the top-end Olights, but they are out of my budget. :frowning:

The next best option seems to be either a Fenix TK70 or TK75. The TK70 seems to have rather more throw, but the TK75 is a handier shape, and I haven’t yet decided which to prioritise.

However, neither is cheap in Europe.

The best deals I have found so far from a Europeam supplier are from flashaholics.co.uk: TK70 £179.95 (US$273.85), or TK75 £159.95 (US$243.42). (Conversion at today’s rates using x—rates.com)

Fast-tech does the TK75 @US$166.94 less discount, which brings it to $158.59. Even if I have to pay VAT to import it, that’s still a big saving over the UK price.

However, I haven’t found any similar good prices on the TK70. Best so far is $211.00 at Manafont.

Any suggestions on where else to look for a good deal for either of these two of these shipped to Ireland?

(BTW, I hope that I have chosen the right forum to post this in. Sorry if I have got it wrong)

Welcome to the BLF family, Bean! You posted in the correct place but I can't help you with a local Irish seller. I do wish you luck though. :)

Thanks, Johnny.

I don’t expect to find an Irish supplier, and certainly not at a decent price. Small country, small market, high costs of doing business etc, so this sort of thing is usually best bought online from an overseas supplier.

I have bought cheap stuff successfully through Aliexpress, but am wary of it for higher-value items such as this, where getting a fake could be hard to unravel.

Cead Mile Failte!

I don’t know the Irish Customs policies, but if you order from Fasttech, there is a chance it will be declared in HK$ - rather less than the US$ - and declared a gift on the customs form.

Well, you certainly won’t be getting a fake if you order from Fasttech. You could also contact them ahead of time ind inquire if they’d be willing to post a lower price on the paperwork for customs.

I like their return policy. Ask them to do a QC before shipping out.

Is QC = Quality control check?

Thrunite TN31!

I only own the TK70 and not the TK75, but I would definitely recommend trying to find the TK70 because it can use off the shelf batteries in a pinch. Since it sounds like it is going to be used in a stand-by/ready to use at a moment’s notice capacity, having the TK70 over the TK75 would be advantageous because you can use rechargeable, low self discharge NiMH D cell batteries, such as the 8000 mAh Tenergy Centura. This will let you safely store the flashlight with the batteries inside it at all times, ready to go at a moment’s notice, and only have to top off the batteries every few months or so.

While in reality it would probably be safe to store the TK75 with batteries inside it at all times, it is not something most people on here would recommend. You have to take some precautions when using multi-cell lithium ion flashlights, such as making sure the cells have equal voltages and that they are not fully discharged (or over charged). While getting batteries with protection circuits reduce the risk significantly, its always going to be there.

If you are prepared and willing to take on the added responsibility of owning a multi-cell lithium ion light and want something with the throw of the TK70 mixed with the compactness of the TK75, check out the BTU Shocker:

I don’t own one of these yet because I am waiting for an XM-L2 version, but they are held in very high regard here.

I think the tk70 is the best as tk75, its have a better balance of flood an throw, but the only problem is you length….

I’’ go with tk70, but I dont know where I buy it :frowning:

Yup.

Might try this:

For the record, I think Fenix may have discontinued the TK70. It is not on their official website anymore.

Thanks for all the help, folks. There are a lot of interesting suggestions in there, particularly the idea of waiting for the BTU Shocker XM-L2. I’m not so keen on the suggestion of the Lustefire 3xu, because the thread at TK70 alike LusteFire 3 x XM-L U2 (3 x 26650) @ KD , MF , DX & FT suggests that it’s poorly made.

So what I have decided to do is to hold off any purchase until the nights are getting longer, when I will have more need for the torch. (In June & July, the sunset doesn’t finish here until after 11pm). Maybe the BTU will be available then as an XM-L2.

Any in the meantime I ordered a XinTD C8 v4 to play with

Going gear still has 2 TK70’s for $120 shipped (US) at their garage sale -

You never know, you might find a fellow BLF’r who is going to travel to Ireland during the summer and could bring in one of those lights (through customs)…sounds silly but I have read this on the forums before. Good people here.

I am waiting to see on that BTU Shocker myself…who knows what will come to the marketplace in the meantime, some of those new MT-G2 sound pretty sweet, especially at the prices seen on BLF.

I agree with Ramblings ,the thrunite TN31 XM-L2 is very good, high recommend,

It doesn’t have alot of flood. Depending on what animals he’s using it for. I wouldnt recommend it for nighttime animal excursions. Personally, I’d want alot of flood. The TK75 has awesome flood. Depending on distance. The Blackshadow Terminator or TN30 could be viable options.

whoop whoop , just ordered the TK75 from Fasttech . Looked around a lot and they are the best price I could find by someway, especially with free shipping worldwide.
Going to the bush camping ( unfenced ) in Bostwana ( Africa ) for 3 weeks in July, looking forward to being to spot the lion and hyena eyes at night around our campsite !!

Hope that works out great for you. Sweet light.

Sometimes (re lion and hyena eyes glowing back at you!) isn’t ignorance some sort of bliss…or at least a bit better sleep in camp?!
