Just in case, did you check the o-ring on the lense came in the right position?
Apparently a lot come in the wrong place (more info in the DQG 18650 threads) and a quick re-positioning can really improve the beam profile, which could make it even better

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! Sure enough, it was in the wrong place (between the bezel and the front of the optic). This review helped me to re-position it. Much smoother beam profile now. 8)

Also, check if there are TWO O-rings on the threads on the body - one of mine had none, and the other had one, whereas there should be two of them. Make a difference as far as how smooth it is and prevents flashing when the head is pushed.
