i’m confused.. did you get U3 or XM-L2?
or did you just copy and paste the specs from the website? Silly
do you have supfire X5 to compare it with? i wonder which one is brighter between them 2

The only way to do a great work is to love what you do.

Love the quality, but it needs at least 3.5A on copper, then you got something there Smile!

Those specs are confusing - says XM-L2 but you got XML U3. I think the 1050 lumens is over-rated too, from my testing with the XinTD. But still, outstanding light, outstanding quality -- Enjoy!!

Nice light Dale. I only had the good fortune to play with Suncoasters light similar to yours for a couple of months (lucky bugger I was) and I agree with your sentiments. Suncoasters was pulling 2.8 amps on a Laptop battery. I modded a C8 from a Q5 to a XM-L running 3 amps. I spent a long time getting the reflector right. The XinTD with a larger hot spot was visibly brighter at 120 meters. This is a well tuned light.

Would version 4 be better?

How bright is bright enough...

That hotspot seems pretty big albeit beautiful, how far away is that wall? Is camera zoomed in?

I have the v4 on order. Should be in any day now hopefully. Mine should be the XM-L2 T6 version which is about the same as the U3 I think. It should be my second best throwing C8 after the monster that Tom E built me. Looking forward to it.

The only difference between the V3 & V4 is emitters & lumens. The V4 has like 70 more lumens than the V3.

What a ridiculous title. 155mm is not really a pocket rocket. Do you carry a man purse or something?

Has the world been invaded by trolls? Actually, I carry it in the pocket of my Carhartt jacket.

Your post got me to thinking. I researched the light malls C8 you mentioned. The closest thing I have to it is the Rong Li XML T6… It’s rated at 1600 lumens. It is indeed brighter with a tighter hotspot. They are very similar in appearance. Apart from the Li having a deeper head. Have to shine them around tonight to see.

Just because you carry something huge in your Carhartt jacket, it does not mean it becomes a world standard. If someone came up and said they carried a 350mm pocket rocket, would that become the new definition for a ‘pocket rocket’?

Look at the size of that head on the XinTD. It’s supposed to be pocketable? Why not carry a lamp post instead?

I pocket a 3 x xm-l u2 3 × 18650 light during the week, it fits straight in the screwdrver pocket. A c8 is dainty by comparison and perfectly pocketable, shut your damm whining! Silly

Look at how bent out of shape you are over semantics. It’s supposed to matter? Why not type a meaningful post instead? Silly No, it’s not a 1×16340, but relax dude. It’s not a Convoy L2 or something.

Can you compare the build quality and fit n finish of the Lightmalls C8 to the XinTD?

I have that very same XinTD V3 with U3 emitter, and the funny (or nasty, depending on point of view... Tongue Out) thing is that by the time it arrived here, abt. 40 days, the new V4 XM-L2 was out!

Damn me! If I had just waited one month more!

Very happy with it, as I was indeed with version V2 before, just now I'm going to see if I can resell it asap and order V4 instead Laughing

It's a lumens itchy thing... only BLFers would understand... Wink

hahah mah bad dale. i wasnt tryin to piss on your campfire….was just giving you a heads up to one of my most recent findings and is also a c8.
but no, you cant just compare your rong li xml c8 because it looks like the lightmalls c8, because i have 5 other c8’s that look exactly like the new lightmalls c8, but with different emitter and reflector, driver, etc…makes this new lightmalls c8 xml2 the bomb.

and haterade, the build fit and finish will not even be close to the xintd. ive read just too many positives on that, so i already know theres no comparison.
but the lightmalls c8 is decent enough.

Thanks blueballz. Appreciate the input. Nice to have a few good n bright C8s on the market to chose from. As long as price is proportional to quality I’m happy.

I’m really eager to receive my lightmalls XML2 C12. Some say they pull +3A. If that is true it should be quite a beast out the box. Hopefully it doesn’t burst into a fiery ball of fire lol.

Rockspider – rough break dude. I feel your pain. I feel bad enough having to buy another when my V3 is only about a year old. V3 is still a great light. Nothing wrong with it. I’m sure I will cave and justify the need for a V4 sooner or later. I am only so strong. Wink

agent80 – didn’t meant to pile on or anything. Only funnin ya anyhow. I get what you meant. C8 might not fit the more common interpretation of the word, but it’s not totally out of bounds. They might look big in pics, but C8s are pretty pocketable. That said, I won’t be dropping it in my office dress slacks. Wink

What is this Lightmalls C8 and is it really that impressive? Are you talking about the UltraFire C8? How does it stand up to the V4 would you say?

Also, OP, how does the tailcap work? Do you have to cycle through modes or can you push it half way in and switch modes?
