POCKET ROCKET... My XinTD arrived today.

Look at how bent out of shape you are over semantics. It’s supposed to matter? Why not type a meaningful post instead? :stuck_out_tongue: No, it’s not a 1x16340, but relax dude. It’s not a Convoy L2 or something.

Can you compare the build quality and fit n finish of the Lightmalls C8 to the XinTD?

I have that very same XinTD V3 with U3 emitter, and the funny (or nasty, depending on point of view... ) thing is that by the time it arrived here, abt. 40 days, the new V4 XM-L2 was out!

Damn me! If I had just waited one month more!

Very happy with it, as I was indeed with version V2 before, just now I'm going to see if I can resell it asap and order V4 instead

It's a lumens itchy thing... only BLFers would understand...

hahah mah bad dale. i wasnt tryin to piss on your campfire….was just giving you a heads up to one of my most recent findings and is also a c8.
but no, you cant just compare your rong li xml c8 because it looks like the lightmalls c8, because i have 5 other c8’s that look exactly like the new lightmalls c8, but with different emitter and reflector, driver, etc…makes this new lightmalls c8 xml2 the bomb.

and haterade, the build fit and finish will not even be close to the xintd. ive read just too many positives on that, so i already know theres no comparison.
but the lightmalls c8 is decent enough.

Sorry Jr, not biting. Have a great day.

Thanks blueballz. Appreciate the input. Nice to have a few good n bright C8s on the market to chose from. As long as price is proportional to quality I’m happy.

I’m really eager to receive my lightmalls XML2 C12. Some say they pull +3A. If that is true it should be quite a beast out the box. Hopefully it doesn’t burst into a fiery ball of fire lol.

Rockspider - rough break dude. I feel your pain. I feel bad enough having to buy another when my V3 is only about a year old. V3 is still a great light. Nothing wrong with it. I’m sure I will cave and justify the need for a V4 sooner or later. I am only so strong.

agent80 - didn’t meant to pile on or anything. Only funnin ya anyhow. I get what you meant. C8 might not fit the more common interpretation of the word, but it’s not totally out of bounds. They might look big in pics, but C8s are pretty pocketable. That said, I won’t be dropping it in my office dress slacks.

What is this Lightmalls C8 and is it really that impressive? Are you talking about the UltraFire C8? How does it stand up to the V4 would you say?

Also, OP, how does the tailcap work? Do you have to cycle through modes or can you push it half way in and switch modes?

there have been many times my c108 (c8 host) has been in my pants pocket. and i do not wear huge over sized pants.

Half push to cycle thru modes.

absolutely Pulsar. my jeans and cargo shorts can hold a C8. only dressier pants with smaller pockets and less room in the hip might pose a problem.

Yourrid - Lightmalls is the vendor. They sell some of their own variants of common host lights like the C8 and C12 etc. Seems like they tend to drive their lights harder (higher current) than most.

C8 is an extremely common (maybe the most common) host. There are many MANY variations by many manufacturers/sellers.

The XinTD is a little unique for it’s slightly elongated neck/head and deeper reflector for improved throw. It is one of many versions, but the XinTD also stands out for the quality of its build. It feels much more solid than my cheapo ultrafire C8. Threads are bigger and smoother. Well driven with good thermal management for good output. Everything seems a little better made and less “budget”… but it’s not quite on par with super premium brands that cost substantially more. It’s a very good value for what it is.

I’m usually wearing cargo shorts when I wear shorts so I guess the xintd would be pocketable. Maybe for a small 5’ 3” guy it wouldn’t, but it’s within the realm. Though it is on the bigger side. Can’t wait until my materials come so I can redo my p60 pill I’m trying to make.

Although if your one of those guys who prefers to wear ‘skinny’ jeans. I suppose it could be problematic.

I’m patiently waiting for a Mae West misquote…… :stuck_out_tongue:

I remember getting my first c8……my first thought was “damm that’s small, will it be able to put out enough light? ”, I really dont see the issue in carrying one, yeah, its not a aaa key chain light, but its hardly like trying to pocket a 6d mag or power onboard.

Myself as well…. The C8 surprised me. Great little lights.

Iam not trying to add fuel to the fire or in this p*ss but does anyone have an opinion on the KDC8XML2-U2 ? I have that one and lightmalls C8LU3 and I haven’t found any reviews on any of them I know the xtind are the top of the budget light hill and glad you like your new torch:-)

Got any pics? First I’ve heard of this one.

Haterade,

What you said to agent80 about “looking big in pics” is actually a good point. That was what happened to me… I avoided buying a C8 for a long time because all of the pics (maybe purposely) made them look huge, or maybe had a huge head. But then, I saw a pic of one where someone had it in his hand, and went “that’s actually pretty reasonable size!” and then got one, and by now I have 7 (got another one yesterday).

I guess that the sellers think that if they make a like look gigantic, especially the head, people wil think it’s more powerful, but it’s counter-productive if you’re looking for an EDC…

BTW, I have both the lightmalls and the Kaidomain C12s. Unfortunately, I can’t remember which is which :(…

The shape of their beams on a white wall looks about the same, but one is slightly brighter and more yellow than the other (again, not sure which one though :(!)…

Sure they look exact the same dimensions but the KDC8 has no white lettering designating what it is .could you please post the link so I can post pictures from my galaxy SIII thanks ill be happy to post and if in knew how a couple of bea m shots they to me seem alsmost identical and I have read where Tom E stated that the xml2’s in a stock set up on aluminum sink pads aren’t much of a benefit untill you mount on a copper sink pad just wondering if any one else has tried the KDC8XML2-U2 ?

A textured reflector helps blend the hotspot and spill on a C-8, it’s close to a necessity for what I need…and I mostly end up running on low, otherwise it can be too bright.

A C-8 fits nicely in a front jeans pocket with the head on top about an inch outside of the pocket. The large head holds the light upright and a clip is not necessary…works even better with tight jeans, I guess, but …
