Solarforce S2200 MT-G2

LOL well that combo will do it. Glad she’s doing well.

Thanks for the bookshelf shots. This light looks awesome. (So does that triple nichia!)

Was going to buy the S2200 but I think I will hold off for this one http://www.armytek.com/products/flashlights/search-and-rescue/armytek-grizzly-mkr-variable-bezel-colors.html they have a warm one too http://www.armytek.com/products/flashlights/search-and-rescue/armytek-grizzly-mk-r-warm.html I think you’ll get best of both worlds, same output like the S2200 but with better throw @ 4° and 40° spill. They were going to use the MK-R led but changed to the MT-G2.

  • World's first MT-G2 LED flashlight!
  • Record light output 2120 lumen
  • Excellent throw
  • Ideal for high-output applications
  • Powered by two 18650 Li-Ion

How can they claim “World’s first MT-G2 LED flashlight!”? Crelant is shipping one, as is SolarForce, and maybe Niwalker, whereas what’s on their webpage looks like a crude drawing?

Yes agreed on the first MT-G2 light thing - but I just updated my post (after I was quoted) I guess they just left the original blurb the same because they were going to use the MK-R led, so it would have been the first MK-R light……

These companies are so stressed out to show their ideas that keep adding "out of stock" flashlights.

Record output of 2000lumens they say. They go for those who don't know anything about flashlights.

Yes, but you get a $25 discount on the light that doesn’t exist.

Yes its a cad drawing proof of concept - Armytek lights are designed in Canada, they allow a lot of customer input as they design and produce their lights so they change things with customer input - also they are some of the best made lights out there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvA79TAMu6c

The same specs are for the XM-L2 http://www.armytek.com/products/flashlights/search-and-rescue/armytek-barracuda-xm-l2-variable-bezel-colors.html

I like armytek brand in general, but that page for their MTG light raises more questions than answers.

That image appears to merely be a rendering of their Barracuda. Which is a great light, but not new. So is it just an MTG version of the Barracuda? Or a legit unique whole new model?

This will obviously not be the first MTG on the market, and those specs don’t really make sense to me. How do they plan to drive the MTG on 2 li-ions? I was under the impression 3 was the minimum to drive this emitter well for any length of time.

Seems like they are playing catch up. Better to slow down, do it right, and bring it to market when its a mature product worth buying. I don’t see the point in rushing a halfassed MTG light to market just to say “look everybody we gots tha newest badazz MTGz yo!” (Listening crelant?)

They would need a buck/boost driver.

+1. Exactly what I was thinking. They see a few MT-G2 lights and knock out a CAD drawing (and a price!!) without, it seems to me, too much homework. 2x18650’s will struggle, I would imagine.

That’s what I like about Niwalker. It’s probably about six months since they mooted the idea of a light with this emitter. In the meantime they have been sending Selfbuilt engineering samples, and ironing out any issues. Better to be late and get it right, than early and crap.

i think this just sealed the deal for me - i have 6x fasttech 3400s on my shelf

There's only two things about it I would change, one bugs me pretty bad, and the other is just something to make it perfect. First, the annoying thing, is the tailcap clickie. Really awkward and inconvenient in a light this big. The 'just to make it perfect' thing, would be to have it take 4 cells instead of 3. That's not a lot to find wrong from somebody who usually wants to change everything.

i dont mind the tailcap clicky - my defiant 3d has one and is even bigger than the s2200

i do like 4 cell lights myself - would another cell in series add anything? i guess it would depend on the driver… more efficiency depending on the driver?

im going to add this to my “purchase list” if i still want it unconditionally after memorial day when solarforce flashlight sales comes back i will buy

Seems like the Niwalker will be shipping their Black Light Vostro BK-FA02 (MT-G2) lights to dealers around June 1. Price quoted as $179.99.

Ouch. Thats expected street price or retail?

Really hope that's the retail price... otherwise, OUCH, no thanks, I'll stick to the TK75.

I know they are not really that similar, but would like to see beamshot comparo of some of these MTGs vs TK75.

I don't really have anywhere with the space to truly let these lights stretch their legs, but I'll try with the 7G10 tonight if the weather is good.

To me, they are somewhat similar, although, the TK75 wins out both in power and throw by a wide margin.

That MTG2 light has a much smaller reflector, but the huge reflector on the 7G10 really doesn't do as much I expected vs the smaller one on the EA8.
