Solarforce S2200 MT-G2

Good job! Im sure Dad will hang that one on the wall.

yeah those shots are great with that light

lol, ok, so the storm isn’t here yet…but it is dark and the S2200 does fire up the night. (with lightning flashes in the distance)

Control shot…notice the US flag is lit, but there’s no light visible on the barn.

The S2200 on Hi, firing up the barn(or at least making it visible) at 607 yards!

And the same angle as I’ve shown before at 50 yds, but this time at 97 yds. …the red oil drum

And with this walk on a dark and stormy night, I’ve decided to keep this big chunk of awesomeness! Spot cleared on the shelf, the new King is crowned! (For me, biggest, brightest {with a challenger} best built light I own)

Feel free to click the pic for a larger look in Flickr, the original sized shot (downsized but still large) plainly shows quite a lot of light at over 600 yds and makes anything within 100+ yards easy to shoot at. Good enough for me! >)

Yep, that neutral tint really makes your pictures come out nice.

WOW, nice beamshots and nice place.

My dream is live in place like that, without neighbors to annoying me and darkness to shine with my light  :stuck_out_tongue:

To give some perspective to that shot of the barn, the tree on the right is in our field and is 180 yds from the light. The 2 trees that appear to have the barn surrounded are not close to the barn at all, not even on the same property! The tree that is “in front of the flag” is 310 yds from the light (yes, fully 300 yards from the barn) and the tree to the left of the barn is on the opposite side of a driveway from the flag tree and 295 yds from the light.

The shot towards our shed at 97 yards is covering a swath about 36 yards wide in the picture. Virtually a football field with light on it! And no real hot spot visible. That’s a LOT of light!

pretty impressive. I see more good things coming with this emitter.

does anyone know how the pwm is on medium/low? if there is any…

the website says “stable current regulated output” does this mean on all modes?

I know there’s no noise, used it on low walking last night and it’s nice. Med is about like most good P-60 drop-ins, but with excellent color. I’ve got the cells charging but will try to get some info on pwm here directly. I’ve got some alternate cells I can use.

How do you recommend I check that? Ceiling fan? Shower?

I’m not sure of what I’m seeing, but water flows smooth under Hi beam, there appears to be indentations in the stream (——————) but very very close together in Med and Lo modes. There is no noise. Zero. Zip. Nada.

Ceiling fan shows a smooth stream of light with no strobe effect on any mode.

Edit: inside the parenthesis above is hyphens, the forum makes it a solid line, sorry. The effect I saw is like tenths of a millimeter apart, perhaps even a single .10mm or less…very tight pattern.

sounds like some sort of pwm… i only ask because im sensitive to pwm… i sold my terminator and skyray king because of the low modes having low frequency pwm (around 400-800hz) it makes me nauseous and very dizzy after 2-3 mins

the higher frequencies are ok though… i never have issues with 7135 based drivers (4khz pwm) or nitecore ea4 (high frequency pwm)

I have tried several 7135 based boards with the shower method and this is much tighter than that, so you should be fine with this one. Just don’t use the Strobe, it’s disorienting to me and I’m never bothered by that! A few seconds of it on the wall and everything gets weird, so it’s quite potent!

ok - it looks like this light is 99% a go… might wait to see what the niwalker is like - but its probably too expensive for me… heck $140 for this thing is pushing it

I took a couple of shots as well as some video from the car, a 2012 Ford Escape. With the camera on a tripod out the moonroof and the light handheld, here’s a couple of shots of the S2200 overpowering the High Beams of the car.

I’ll try to figure out how to show video tomorrow. Amazing light, simply amazing.

nice beamshots! thanks!

I’m not sure if you get cold nights in Texas, but would you be able test to see if the inside of the lense mists up when switched on in a cold environment?

Most of my high powered lights do this, more so the larger the lense is. But some don’t, due to being sealed in a low humidity environment or some sort of lense coating I assume. It can significantly affect the beam though so it’s quite a big deal for me.

Amazing we are now in the territory of comparing handheld flashlights to auto headlights.
:open_mouth:

Fantastic. Bring it on. Bring the MTG2 ruckus!

That’s the old model right? US model years are quite misleading for the rest of the world.

these are quotes from selfbuilts review on the niwalker, i think i would rather have more constant brightness if possible

also - it doesnt look like the niwalker offers any option for a lanyard - at least in the preproduction model selfbuilt got.

is the output on high on the solarforce better regulated? meaning more constant brightness on high due to the 3s setup?

if this is the case - I am going with the solarforce!

Dude why're you asking questions you already know the answer to? Just buy the thing already! It may not have some of the whiz-bang gimmicks of the others, but what it does, it does correctly. And it's built like a tank. I think it's pretty clear all the alternatives have pretty serious design flaws, or QC issues. Or both.

Current at the emitter (NOT tailcap) stays at 3.28-3.31A from switch on with fresh cells to the time the battery indicator turns red.
