Have had my share of animals from a Squirrel, Cats, Dogs, Iguanas, now a Pet 8 ounce duck, that follows me everywhere. So, how close animals can become, and just steal our hearts away. My thought and prayers are with you, might try :

I lost 2 of the best dogs I ever had not long ago. It’s tough.
Hope this turns around for you and this beautiful wee dog gets better. Take strength also in the fact that you have provided him a wonderful life over the last 8 months, which wouldn’t have happened if your paths hadn’t crossed.

When the bladder stones came back and the doctors wouldn’t operate on her because she was to old this time. I ended up having to put er down rather than watching her suffer any further. We got her from a foster home when she was 8, and had her till she was almost thirteen. It was hard watching her fade into unconsciousness and being the last thing she saw gives me abit of closure to the hole in my heart.
Keep your chin up Johnny and get all the cuddles in you can
