FLEX Asgard @ Fasttech

 good one gords.

I might still be seeing the big purple spot, I can’t wait for dark but might not still be awake, was up early this morning, done a lot of miles today and have to be up early tomorrow.

I have gone with moonlight 12.5% 37.5% 100% for now.

Tried the latest versions for windows and android. Nothing. Both pair just fine. Rebooted and re-paired several times for both devices. Pairs just dandy in both devices but software refuses to connect in either. Resisting the urge to smash the light against the brick wall. To say I'm frustrated would be a grand understatement.

I think it might actually be your PC because I brought my light to work to show it off and while it will pair with my computer it will not read the light at all, it says it connected but I know that is false because it can’t read the profile stored in the light, this was with the 6/3 and the 6/5 release. Yet it works just fine on my personal PC & Laptop, go figure……try another PC/laptop and see what happens if you already haven’t.

Johnny, that’s too bad you cannot get it to work. It’s fun to tinker with and create interesting modes.

I started a thread where FLEX Asgard owners can share their mode creations.

I’ve created some awesome profiles in the Windows app, I just can’t use them.

How is the Android app working for you? I've tried 3 different Android devices with no luck using the latest APK

Android app is a no-go for me.
Fasttech posted why they think it doesn’t work a bit earlier (something to do whthe the OS/BT stack). Sucks. They are trying to find a workaround for it.
The windows App is working good for me so far.

Your experience sounds just like mine was before I swapped the driver they sent me. Worked great and despite my machine work whines, all I could do was grin and say happy things. With the new driver, it won't pair or connect at all. They're sending Johnny a whole new assembled pill and I've asked that they do the same for me so, hopefully . . .

Glad you light is good. If they can do that every time they'll sell a lot of Asgards. But I will admit a growing frustration that might soon equal Johnny's.

and this is for you EXPERTS in modding and know-how! I am so glad I had reservations on ordering this light, and decided to pass. I would have had to just use it as a regular ole flashlight. Guess I’ll wait, and wait some more, and see what transpires. I don’t have any reservations about Fasttech.

Any fairly newbs get this light and clueless?

I have to say, my issue was purely my fault, I also dont know how it cleared the duff program and reverted to one I could use to get back to bluetooth, I’m guessing multiple fast clicks reset it but I don’t know.

Its now back to four mode moon to full and its out at work with me, a thrower is not the most useful but hey.

The android software and bluetooth does what its supposed to, infact I’m seriously considering asgarding my zy-t08 to use as a mod base because I’m itching to do some chip stacking but keep my founder series light as is.

The Retail version of the light is working just fine for me, that is why I waited a bit before ordering and I think it has paid off; I would have no reservations buying another if I need it or recommending this light.

Just wondering, is there any possibility of bricking the light?

Perhaps cutting the power while programming?

It’ll be an awesome paperweight though.

Any plans on selling spare drivers?

I thought if you sent them an email or pm here they would sell you one.

I also have problems.

After a few tries.. I could get the light connected through bluetooth.
And I could upload my first mode configuration.

But I didnt like it so much, and wanted to change it.. now every time the program hangs when I want to add a profile..

It says something about "selected index".. .no idea what that means...

I re-installed the program 2 or 3 times.. but still get the same error message.

Well mine read the default modes once… and the program said I had a successful upload- and maybe I forgot to “disconnect” via the program and now it no longer reads the profiles from the light or uploads them.

Ticket sent.

Also their tech support link gives me a 404.

Just received my Asgard

Bought the Sanyo 2600mAh flattops together with some magnets.
The magnets keep shifting when I try to screw in the head. Tried quite a few times before finally getting it.
For those using flattops, any tips to using the magnet? Or I guess I should just use 2x18650 button tops.

Managed to pair to Samsung Galaxy S2, my laptop, as well as my tablet, but the bluetooth is very very weak and needs really close proximity. Followed the instruction to point the head of Asgard to the screen, and the connection still fails most of the time. Then when I finally got the connection, quickly send the profile over!

So far have only tried sending profiles from S2 and tablet and both work fine, but the connection is very not stable.

Mode programming is fun. If you’re in the profile that the Asgard is currently using, then pressing on the mode would activate the mode! But the maximum distance I’ve achieved was a mere 50cm, and I have to move it closer. If only the distance could be further. Future upgrades should definitely use a stronger Bluetooth module? If only the bluetooth range could be much much longer, then I can really “remote” control my light from the other end of the room! And that was what I thought I could do!

The throw is good too! At 100% it is brighter and appears to out-throw my Fandyfire HD2010.

The 18mA moonlight mode is the lowest moonlight I’ve ever seen! Very dim and nice.

Overall it’s a fun purchase. Glad to support the initial development.

Congrats on your Asgard….I think the bluetooth must be class 2 and not class 1, I asked about it but never got a reply; class 1 would certainly give better range.

Thanks! I think it should be Class 3 instead, range of approx 1m. Class 2 has range of approx 10m.

You actually Want Class 3? Why?? Class 3 is very uncommon and rated @ 1mW & 1m as you stated……Hmm maybe it has a Class 3 in it and that is why the range is not that great; I just figured it was just the metal case that was causing the range to be less than desired and that would cause that effect……but yea Class 3 would really limit it.

Class 1 has a power output of 100mW which gives you 100 meters depending upon environmental conditions. I really thought they used Class 2 which is 2.5mW going out to 10m which is very common.
