MariaDB v10 seems pretty nice. Drop-in compatible with mySQL, performance improvements, and free of the shackles of Oracle.

Ok, it is now running. :)

Wonder why the threads went down?

I opened 33 pages, just refreshing them every few seconds now.
I’m not actually checking the speed of the site though, is it holding up well?

EDIT: scaru, i’m using the easy auto refresh add on, it’s quite good!

Honestly, probably because I backed off. Want me to hammer it again?

Yes...

It’s pretty slow now for me, just click on one link at a time. It’s because the Apache workers are all busy and a long waiting queue. I’m keeping those values fairly low to save RAM.

Check it now. I just turned up the heat a bit.

Sure! I’m interested to see if the OS will step in or if it will let the DB run it into the ground.

Okay I lowered it to refresh 5 pages every 3 seconds. However it still has about 25 pages to load up first from before.
From where I am in the house I get about 3-6mbps down speeds, so I may not be affecting it much.

Looks like it just came to a grinding screeching halt :) I wasn't nice to it. :)

QPS is down slightly. So looks like the theoretical limit for this config is somewhere around 340 QPS? Not earth-shattering, but neither is the resource configuration.

Yep, Getting "Connection Refused" up the wazoo.. I'm going to leave it hammering away for a few more minutes to see if it fully crashes or if it recovers.

Yeah, completely down for me.

K. I just stopped completely.

Yep, doesn’t appear to load up now.

Barely 15MB of RAM left, but still up, and my SSH session is still barely usable.

Once the onslaught dies down, I’m interested to see if it recovers and free up the memory again.
