TK75 vs BTU Shocker - Let the battle begin! (NEW UPDATE ON POST 125)

Fenix is pricing them at $399(?) to start, probably to compete against the jetbeam ddr30, nitecore tm26, etc.

Priced at more than double the price of the TK75, I don't think it will be a very good option in terms of budget to performance increase.

Maybe Fenix wants to break the barrier when they see Olight selling many lights above $300 or $400.

Ordered the TK75 from going gear. Not really interested in dealing with HK post again. Plus, that G.G. guy is swell.

I may or may not have a problem.

GG is where we got our TK75 too. Great people to deal with. And I’m sure you’ll love your light.

XM-L2 U2s are sold from several different vendors already. And more will come. Hopefully cheaper too.

Ok guys, few things are unclear to me.

We all know BTU Shocker step down to ~ 2000lm, after 3 minutes on turbo ~ 3000lm with updated lens from Ric.

So here are the numbers from the test,

left BTU—————————TK75 right

1 min –* 2860*L (82F) ——2965L (83F)
5 min – 2755L (90F) ——2900L (98F)
10 min- 2695L (100F) —-2830L (118F)
15 min- 2605L (109F) —-2790L (128F)
20 min- 2465L (120F) —-2740L (132F)
————————————————————

So BTU drop only around 100lm instead of 1000? and later i read this from the test,

“The BTU has a soft drop from turbo to high about every 3 min. Dropping roughly to 1900-2000L”

Yet i never see 2000~lm in this numbers, someone can explain this to me? thanks.

Where do you see XM-L2 U2 on lightmalls, because you say it's U2 in the list. http://www.lightmalls.com/new-led-16mm-6500k-cree-xm-l2-led-emitter

Anyone? :frowning:

I kept kicking the BTU back onto turbo when it started going down. Had to do it multiple times. Was trying to see how hot it got and how well or bad it did when kept on turbo like the the TK75. That’s why I had to take readings about every 30-60 sec. On each light To make sure to keep it on turbo. Check out the video I did on this thread and you can see that it dropped quite a few times.

Thanks alot

Now one suggestion, i already made a comment on the video, don’t know if you read it, you should put BTU Shocker testing or something like that on it as title, so many users who are interested in BTU can see the test, the video does not show on YT search with that title (numbers) sadly, thanks dude

I will try to do that. Makes sense.

Just got the video titled. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well that was fast, thanks alot

Going Gear is also where I got mine. I picked it up in person and got the 15% off moving sale price. Going Gear is a great place to do business with.
PS. I like their new store. Not so crowded.

Dont blame me just because the stores changes price, tint/bin etc.
I have corrected and fixed many emitters in the past, but I am not not able to update all. Hence the collaboration spreadsheet, where people fix and update things when they see changes or errors.
XM-L2 U2 1A from Lightmalls was added as soon as the spreadsheet got running, 3/3/2013. At that time they were 9,55$, then price went down to 8.90 (updated 1/5/2013) Still described as U2 at that point. . Now they are 8.20, and are not labeled XM-L2 U2 1A anymore. In 1-5 weeks, they could change the info again. Its the way certain stores do things…
KD is the only one who still claims XM-L2 U2 1A out of the stores that got them before/around 3/3/2013. I have shared my thoughts about KD (and other stores like Lightmalls, DX, etc etc) when it comes to emitter claims several times in the past… Latest was a couple of days ago in this post.

Illumination Supply is a great place to get the XM-L2 U2 emitters. I just bought some from them last week and their price is awesome!

So do you think the XM-L2 U2 1A from KD is genuine?

there is a Super BTU out now, is there a super TK75 out also ? how does the new super upgrade cause it to stack up now?

Where is this alleged Super BTU Shocker available? Are you talking about Vinh or RMM’s modded versions?

yea its this one with upgrades,id imagine they could do the same with the other one

Someone could… but that TK75 price tag really limits the clientele. Probably looking at close to $230 if someone were to come along and do it.

I believe VN did a tk75vn, but it’s no where near the Super BTU.
