What is your favorite RCR123A (16340)?

I’ve tried protected TrustFire & UltraFire 16340s/RCR123As and they just can’t handle high current drains like that of the Mini-02 or UF-K21.

I’ve tried NiteCore RCR1234As and they’re great. They can provide the current requirement needed and their claimed capacity is real.

Yet another +1 to NiteCore RCR123

A NiteCore NL166 inside an Olight S10 Baton, one of my trusty backup edc

Efest. Delivers 3 amps just fine

I’m still using those cheap “1000mAh” UltraFires…they give my EC1, S-10 and Mini ML-X all the juice they can handle, so far.

I've had great luck with genuine Trustfire Flames in that size. No issues running any of my lights at 3A when needed.

i use extremebeam 1000 mah and aw imr 550 mah

I have ultrafire gray, trustires black w/red flames and nitecore NL166. The nitecore NL166 has the best capacity of the bunch.

I use the Xtar and the Soshine. Have had good results with both.

I’m quite happy with me Solarforce 700mA ones.

I saw a nice review for Solarforce when I was looking for a better alternative to Nitecore. I'll get one sometime. I don't think there's there's much difference in the best 16340 cells, not that they're that great.

Solarforce protected 880mAh 16340 blue/white cell

$3.50 each + $2 shipping. Using my Thunder AC680 hobby charger, their capacity is around 720 mAh at the industry standard .2C (used .2A) when discharged down to 3 volts from a full charge. They are the highest capacity 16340’s I could find and they are cheap. The only downside is that they are pretty wide, so they will not fit in all lights.

I am discharge testing my Trustfire 880 mAh 16340’s I got from Tmart as I type this. I will post the results in here once it is done.

Edit: 702 mAh on the Trustfire’s from Tmart. I am genuinely suprised by that. I thought they were going to be in the 500 mAh range…

Does it fit in your oLight S10?

Your list of lights is helpful this way. I may borrow your idea.

no one else uses imr AW’s besides me?

I have AW ICR 16340’s. No complaints so far and they easily out perform my Trusfire 14500’s.

I also have some AW IMR 18350’s, which again I have no complaints with.

Volume of a 14500 should be 7700 mm^2.

Volume of a 16340 should be 6839 mm^2.

I've been curious about that for a while.

The blue Trustfire has low capacity, the flame Trustfire is much better.

Generally 14500 will outperform 16340 batteries.

On 16340 there is usual no reason to believe the marked mAh, on 14500 they are sometimes correct.

Nitecore NL166

They don’t fit in my olight s10 or my Sunwayman R10R. They do fit in my JETbeam RRT01 and Crelant V31A though.

As I put in my previous post, I got 702 mAh @ .2A to 3V out of my protected Trustfire Flames. Not bad at all…

My favorite 16340 is the AW ICR.
They have performed really well for me over the years.

I also have white, gray and flame trustfire 16340’s.
(a portion of these are dying off after a few years of light use)

Also a protected AW is about the same size as an unprotected Trustfire, so protected TF’s do not fit all 16340 lights.

My favorite 16340 is a 18350. Seriously, most of my flashlights are Solarforce L2’s which will take an 18350 as a replacement for the 16340. So I use Xtar IMR 18350 850 mAh which are really great. But I recently bought a couple of Trustfire L2M’s and to my surprise their walls are not bored for an 18 size battery so I had to pull out some 16’s. I have some Xtar protected cell 16340 600 mAh which also world great. But in with the Trustfire L2M’s they included a small charger and an Ultrafire protected 1000 mAh. I’ve read these Ultrafire’s don’t do well over time so I have been charging them then using them to about 3.6v and then another recharge. So far I have done 4 recycles in 2 days. I’ll do a few more and see if they start to deteriorate. I’m surprised that these Ultrafire 1000’s hold any charge at all but so far they have been good.
