The power is here!!!!

thommy - I will be very interested to hear what you have to say about this light. If you only knew how close I came to ordering . . .

If I hadn't already shot off my mouth with JohnnyMac and his F15 . . .

Foy

No problem, post it when it arrives.

Hopefully this is also a hot-shot like the UF-980L

Gotta cool down, just ordered also a (non budget) Spark ST6-500 CW headlamp

Do let me know about that one - I've been sorta, kinda looking at those as the replacement assistant will be a lot more energetic than it's predecessor so I might well want something like that till I get the pup trained.

(Ain't happening soon as I'm waiting for Foxwood to breed some more.

They'd sold all the pups from the last litter (At $1600 a time). they sent me a video of the current litter - I wanted all 11 of them. Problem is my house isn't big enough. Come to that, my local park isn't big enough.)

So, Don; it's going to happen soon . . . getting a new assistant?

Foy

Not all that soon - Foxwood don't breed all that often. I'm on the list for their next litter. Giants tend to have large litters - 11 pups is normal. I've seen the video of the current litter and I want all 11 of them. At about 40% of what I get paid a year....

Not only is my house not big enough, my local park isn't big enough!

And I want another Foxwood - Fizz was Foxwood Carpe Diem.

What I want is Foxwood Carpe Jugulum.

;)

So . . . a little more aggression this time it seems.

Foy

Within limits.

The limits to be defined by training.

Going for a dog rather than a bitch this time - Fizz was a "rescue" dog from a breeder that had decided to downsize from giant schnauzers to papillons and border terriers.

Where she came from.

ROFL! Foy, you can only shoot your mouth off one light at a time! You had better hope that nothing ever meets or beats your 980L the way you evangelize it. :stuck_out_tongue:

No problem Don,

I understand that we use for this purpose the best equipment.

I also ordered thisone for my daily walk with my best friend Gypsy (Border Collie)

Congrats, glad to know that you are going for a new assistent

It cannot replace the one you had for many years, but it helps you to get over it and after a matter of time you gonna love your new friend.

It took me 2 years to get over the lost of Lady (King Charles Cavalier), but now Gypsy is almost more than 1 year with us, I am realy happy to have back a best friend.

I have a visiting hound just now.

Sonny!

The manic Cocker Spaniel. The soundtrack is from his owner 20 years ago when he worked for me.

"evangelize"

Dear heaven above, is that what I sound like? Perhaps I need to move the appointment with my therapist up a little sooner. My condition is becoming much more acute.

Heheheh...it's all good. It's good for the soul to find something you enjoy and are excited to share with others. We all need a little more of that in our lives. :) If we all find something that sparks our enthusiasm and share it with the others here we will be able to broaden our horizons and try new things we would have missed out on otherwise. ;)

+1 Johnny

I don't spend a lot of time trying understand what it is about a damn flashlight I find so facinating . . . wonder what it is?

Got mine yesterday,

Hooray, thisone is now the longest in my collection

First impressions,

very, very bright but not the throw skills like my Olight SR91 (was not surpriced)

It illuminates everything like daylight in front of you for about 20 meters.

A real flooder with nice throwing capacities.

But what a very strange size, a real pipeline

It gets warm, but way not like the UF 980L.

Gonna take it out this evening for the second time, but it's get not so dark here these day's, it's almost full moon.

Thommy, how's the current draw with 2 and 4 x 18650? 4S is really a lot, really need to make sure to balance them cells properly. 2 is manageable and would be very safe with good cells like Solarforce, XTAR, Sanyo/Panasonic/Samsung or IMR. With flat top cells, it is best not to use magnets but drop a blob of solder and file the top part down a bit. Need to wrap the drop-in good with aluminum/copper foil real tight.

I ordered the Sky Ray version from Manafont, 2 x 18650 only. How much is the shipping from Shenzhen Wholesale?

Thanks for the safety tips 2100

wrapped the drop-in real tight with alu-foil, head and first battery tube gets faster warm now.

I also did some measurements on the talcap:

Batteries: Soshine 2800mAh protected.

4-bat : 1.3 A

3-bat : 1.77 A

2-bat : 0.06 A

Seems the driver needs more than 8v to work, with two batterys I have only very low lightoutput.

Output with 4 bat seems a little more brighter than configuration with three bat.

I am thinking of bying a luxmeter, any suggestions are welcome please...

Payed 9.9 USD shipping to Belgium (Europe)

The guys here like Extech, not sure how's the pricing like.... But if you are looking for lower cost stuff this is it. (the extra money can go for buying more lights)

I think even for the cheap meters, you can do A/B comparisons between your flashlights, batteries (how do good and bad batteries vary the intensity) etc. You can measure very powerful lights at a distance like 10m and then calculate "backwards".

3-cell and 4-cell both are around the same power. The light is probably about 20W. That is good, each XM-L is getting about 1.8A.....would be really efficient and not contribute to much heat, it might not be as bad as it seems.

Looks like thommy's got an SR90 and a 980L. And, there seem to be more than a few Solarforce lights in attendance.

Seem pretty awesome light at great price, but I'm not sure about using at least 3 cells. More work than need be for the lazy, since good 18650's can handle 2C or ~5A. Crappy ones are maybe 1C, so probably shouldn't use those in the MF light if it's well driven.

That's why I am intend to buy the Xtar WP6 II charger, not more work to do when recharging the 4C at the same time

2C light with 3x XM-L is also nice, more manageable to carry, but what would be the runtime with these three little suns on running high in the head???

Let's hope we got a review soon from the 2C MF 3x XM-L.
