Adjustable Angle Light - disassembly, mod, beam profile

I have 4, and haven’t had that problem with them, but when I have with other lights it is because the path to ground isn’t good and as the light heats up and expands, something fits tighter and the connection works better.

If I were to guess, i’d say where the body tube screws into the head. Unfortunately, I think that joint is glued.

dthrckt, which colours do you have? Do they glow in the dark? I’m not sure what colour to get.

mine are all green, and they glow, but how well varies widely, even though they’re all from DX

btw, facebook must have changed the way their photo links work, and all my pic links from last year stopped working, so here are links to the pics from the first post…maybe more pics, and not in the same order…but better than nothing i guess

Chloe - I have yellow, green and blue, the green one glows in the dark very well, just like GITD material should.
Yellow one doesnt glow at all.
Blue one glows slightly and not homogeneous, it looks like a starry sky under clear conditions, except that the glow is very faint :D!

Body glows and switch button glows, no other parts glow on mine.

dthrckt and vēer, thank you so much! I think I will have to get green and hope that it will glow a lot.

thank you for all the info in this thread… this is my first experience with tampering with a flashlight.
I bought this light because I was looking for a small and easy to direct light to clip on my belt/backpack when trail running… of course I wanted to mod it so to give it more flood.
So I got two of them (one green from DX and one yellow from ebay seller abeyerr). The lights look like same quality but the yellow one has a much snappier (metallic) click when moving the head that seems better.

and started modding as suggested by dthrckt (thanks a lot for reposting the pics), including the BB trick

of course I have no experience with flashlights and didn’t think that replacing the original lenses would give back the throw and lose the flood! so I found this post and ordered the 20mm 120-Degree Optic.
They are just a little large so I had to file one down to fit (the one in the middle!)

the optics corrugated external part perfectly fits!!

and this is the final result:

but after the mod I started hearing all the noise on low mode, so following the suggestions in this thread it turns out it all depends on the spring and the magnet: I used a plastic felt, one of those you put under the leg of a chair, an placed it under the spring…

noise is extremely low now, have to place it right next to the ear to hear it.
Really good budget light for my needs.

Now going to fix the other one!
Thank you

That is a nice mod Teutate! And thanks for the excellent pictures of it.

Nice mod! I was thinking of just using an Olight S20 diffuser on the NEW-898. FastTech are selling the diffuser now too.

I've gifted a bunch of these, kept one. These lights really got me into the China budget lights last year - great functionality.

I can’t find a cheap source for these angle lights…
I am sure I had found them below 8$…

Could someone please help?

I’m sure some members got theirs from Ebay but I couldn’t find any. Green is the cheapest colour on DX, but 10.50 USD:

Thats what i mean, there were tons out there, to very different prices, but now i can barely find them…

What is that diffuser on the blue one? Is that the original fenix mc11?

I have no real need for one, but I think they could be useful so I had one on my to purchase list forever…

I think it the original Fenix. The diffuser is AD-401, well, this one from DX (sold out). Maybe Fenix had a crack down on the copies.

Thanks for the info, I have some other original fenix diffusors and they seem to be really nice quality and the original cost about 4$ here…sadly no free shipping…

Diffusers are going very cheap at Wallbuys , about $1

I have already bought a nice fenix collection from them, seems they stop selling things: Inventory sales end, to stop selling.
The big wand fits with some grinding the A8 and makes it a nice lantern.

they have a ad-401 as well but it looks different…
just ordered the ad401 and the ad03, just to cheap to resist

Thanks, Teutate. I just got one too.

Wow… The ad401 is now sold out and most diffusers are now in the site’s top sellers list… Someone is really monitoring blf!

There were only two available when I went to buy, of the AD-401.

I finally got my anglelight for cheap from gearbest. But the ad401 diffuser doesn’t fit.
The bezel diameter of my light is 25mm and the diffuser only fits for around 22mm lights…
Has anyone found a nice fitting diffuser?
Anyone modded the cheap ad401 maybe with some heat?

It seems that they have made a design change in the diffuser because it blinded people on the edge, the new black one like I have is the same as the old ad401 with a transparent ring to clip it on.

I have tested a note ore diffuser which is rated for 25.4mm and has no hinge, it is slightly to big I guess I could fix that with some heat or tape…but I really like the hinge style to get both flood and throw.
