What is “money order”, and does that work internationally?

In the U.S., a money order is “kind of like” a check, but you buy the money order from the U.S. post office, I think.
It’s been years since I’ve actually had to use one, so I’m not 100% sure where you can purchase them nowadays.
Also, in the old days, before Paypal, money orders were used for most Ebay purchases/auctions, i.e., after winning an auction, you’d have to go get a money order, and physically mail it to the seller. The sellers would typically only ship after they received the money order.
o, thanks for explanation, I checked also on wikipedia and I am pretty confident that this method doesn’t work internationally, even if it would work, that would be one of least safe payment method of all, side by side with Western Union

These will go on CPF Market Place soon. But I thought I would let you guys get the first chances at them.
I’ve used Western Union to pay US sellers w/out a PP a/c and whose credit union could not handle bank draft/Telegraphic Transfer. Almost every town there has a local WU agent (eg. newsagents, biz center, photocopy shop, etc). All you need is the name, address, tel.of the intended recipient. A 10-digit security code is generated for your disposal. But the fees range btw 10-20% for amts below a grand. Still beats risks sending cash by snail mail!
Why no International, if they’re prepared to pay postage ???.
I don’t know his reasons but I can understand his concern. It’s a bit of a hassle shipping overseas from the US especially right now. Customs forms to fill out, unexpected duties that pop up once in awhile. I have even had to fill out paperwork with homeland security before and that took time to process and it was aggravation as all get out.
I have it down and I’m already on file with homeland security so I don’t mind so much. But it’s still a bit of a pain in the back side. Plus shipping rates from the US along with the extra fees usually make it cost prohibitive. I only do it because I’m used to it.
