The World's Most Advanced AMC7135 * 8 Driver

Haha.. Alright, I'm not really sure it's the world's most advanced, but It's pretty awesome.. And yes, it will be available for purchase to people in the BLF community..

So, what is it?

  • 17MM Diameter (Technically, 16.8MM +/- 0.1MM)
  • 8*7135 (380mA each) 3.04A Driver
  • Each AMC7135 Individually addressable (means 8 Steps of Brightness with ZERO PWM)
  • Optional PWMing of one chip gives 1023 levels of brightness in between EACH of the 8 Steps above
  • When in use, PWM Frequency is 7.8Khz
  • FULLY Programmable. Pick your modes, pick your order, select memory or no memory, tons of options.
  • Moonlight Mode WITHOUT PWM (2mA Current) (Can be changed by replacing one resistor)
  • Can be programmed to change modes via Power Cycle (Standard Tail-Cap Clicky) OR via a Momentary Contact (Side-Switch)
  • Temperature Monitoring (Programmable Temperature) (Either shut-down or reduce brightness can be programmed)
  • Voltage Monitoring (Programmable Voltage) (Either shut-down or reduce brightness can be programmed)
  • Voltage Warning (Two Programmable Voltages that will output a blink sequence alerting you that the set voltage has been reached)
  • Modes are locked based upon OFF time rather than ON time (Much Nicer Mode Locking)

So.. Ok.. It's cool so far, but not that cool, right?

What makes it so awesome? It's got a micro USB Connector on it. Yep. USB Programmable. No Clicking through 8 bazillion menus, no need for a Chip-Clip and AVRDude. No Compiling your program in AVRStudio. Just Plug it into your USB Port, Launch the custom application I wrote, Select all your options from drop-down menus, and click "PROGRAM". Presto. Done.

This is what happens when PilotPTK has more than 20 minutes of spare time :)

When's it going to be available? Soon.. I have a bit more to tweak on the software. Hardware is done. As soon as I'm sure the software is going to work without any hardware tweaks, I'll order a bunch of circuit boards and parts.. Once I'm closer to being ready to actually sell them, I'll create another thread in the For Sale section..

Will it be possible to "limit" the maximum current through software to make it suitable for XP-E/G or Nichia 219 for those who don't want 3A output?

I hope you can find a way to sell or patent this to some of the manufacturers who continue to offer that crappy H-L-S option.

This may be a noob question but is it possible to stack additional AMC7135 chips in it?

I imagine you could just keep high mode set to 6 chips, or what ever you want max

You had me at the 4th bullet. You are a driver god to whip this baby up in short order! The only way it could be better is to make an optional version that works with an electronic switch. You are the MAN!!

You might want to make it a smidge over 17mm so it can be used in press-fit aluminum bodies. Sand to fit…
