BLF LED Database - Collaboration Spreadsheet - Share latest news about where to buy LEDs

RaceR86, your pic is very helpful and makes tint selections so much easier! Thanks for all your continued effort!

I ordered a XM-L2 U2 from DX. Yeah, I know its probably not authentic, but I only paid a few dollars for it with a coupon. I have XM-L2 T6 1Aā€™s to compare. If the ā€œU2ā€ gives more lux, Iā€™ll add it to the spreadsheet.

Racer, those copper PCBs can easily be made direct bonded by cutting away the pad layer and filling with solder paste. I bet it would be difficult to measure the difference. Interestingā€¦

There is no U2 on that listing? :frowning:

http://kaidomain.com/product/details.S021847

Are you sure its U2? i like most powerful option.

Hmmā€¦ Maybe I was blind or imagined something???
I was pretty sure it said U2 before. I dont know. (KD have changed emitter info several times in the past, but Im not perfect either, soā€¦)

If you like the most powerful version, check this tread.
Intl-outdoor just got the U2, they will be offered on Noctigon soon, probably a nice price but minimum quantity of 3.

Illumination supply sell the emitters mounted on copper too.

Yupp, I know. But im not into CW that much, nor do I like buying from KD, and I prefer the real deal. Might be a decent budget option though.
Relic38, when you checked the product, did it not say U2? or was it just me???

Love the tint chart. That is very helpful. Thank you RaceR86

Glad you liked it!

Added the following XM-L2s mounted on copper from IS:

FROM IOS.
MINIMUM ORDER OF 3 in the links below

I removed the original links to the T4 5B1 emitters, since they are all gone but now available mounted on Noctigon 16/20
If you buy 3, then they are basically mounted on Noctigon for free.

MINIMUM ORDER OF 3

R86, yeah those were certainly U2 when I saw them. I guess they changed it? Oh well, we now have some real nice options for L2 U2 on real DCB stars. IS and I-O will be my XM-L2 suppliers

Thanks for verifying Relic38, thats what I assumed too.

Quite nice selection of all emitters nowā€¦ When that is said, much want more. So I contacted the banned aliexpress dealer. He is getting even more XM-L2s in stock. His selection of various XM-L2 emitters might become larger than IO and IOS combined. I just cant walk away from thatā€¦ ;p Especially if prices are good. So I might buy some emitters and see how they turn out to be. Im not buying a bunch of everything tough. I hope its not a new trend seeing minimum quantity of 3 or more. I think dealers should just stick to having the option of buying one emitter and offer quantity discount for 3/5/10+ emitters.

When that is said, got the T4 5D2 (80+CRI) from IOS today. And its just like described!

Just a tad warmer than the T4 5B1 and a bit less yellow. If anyone found the T4 5B1 a bit too yellow they will love the T5 5D2! I think its great!
Based on first impression, I would say that too my eyes, the CRI is better because it makes things less yellow. I dont mind a hint of yellow though, but so far, its really hard to choose which I prefer. Another fantastic emitter!

Added the following emitters from IOS, Minimum quantity of 3:

NOCTIGON XM16 MCPCB & CREE XM-L2 U2 1A LED 5,92$
NOCTIGON XM20 MCPCB & CREE XM-L2 U2 1A LED 5,92$
NOCTIGON XM16 MCPCB & CREE XM-L2 U2 1C LED 5,92$
NOCTIGON XM20 MCPCB & CREE XM-L2 U2 1C LED 5,92$

(Larger quantities will make price even better)

There goes a few hundred bucks real quick. Thanks for the links.

Just ordered 25 pcs XP-E2 from Calvin at Illuminationsupply price 2,75 piece. They donā€™t carry them on copper star.

Thanks for sharing!
The emitter have been added a few months ago though.
Im considering to buy a few. I received a 5 emitter reflector (about same size as the typical 3 emitter reflectors that comes with a SRK).
I wonder how the beam and throw will be with 4 de-domed XP-E2 + on warmer/higher cri XP-G2 or XM-L2 in the middle, compared to 3XP-G2s in a typical ā€œSRK reflectorā€. Anyone care to take a guess, hopefully based on some experience?

What plans do you have for 25pcs? 0:)

I have three of those T5 5C1 ( you might have the arrow pointed in the wrong spot for it  ) in my DIY triple, and the tint is very nice. I also have it in a P60 drop-in. The hotspot has yellow in it, so not for everyone. I will have to try the 5B1 and the 5D2.
Not sure, but I think Iā€™m becoming a tint snob

Plan is to put them in smaller aspheric type of flashlights because it has way to tiny beam in bigger asphericsā€¦ It is same size as XRE EZ900 so when you de-dome it you know what to expect

But if someone wants to break aspheric throw record this is only emitter to go without wavien collar ā€¦

XP-G2 looks much better emitter for middle to bigger reflector throwers.

So XP-E2 is more EDC flashlight suitable emitter. Small reflector or small aspheric.

Thanks for noticing and correcting r38. We make a good team.

I blame that blue line that was all over the numbers! Some idiot put it thereā€¦ :stuck_out_tongue:
Here as a corrected version. Ill edit the previous posts to the correct one.

And welcome in the club. Its nice to see others join. Tint snobbery puts another level into the hobby. I like to have a bunch of different tints to choose from in different lights.
I have been through the majority of XM-L emitters that FT and a few others had. Even de-domed NW emittersā€¦ I need to de-dome a WW soon, just to seeā€¦ :stuck_out_tongue:
Several XP-G2s too (mostly CW that been de-domed, 2/3 different NW, 1 WW)
As for Nichia 219, NW (92 CRI)
and 119 WW (90? CRI)

My XM-L2s, some are on their way.
U2 1A (may not be corrent)(65 CRI)
T4 5B1 (80+ CRI)
T4 5D2 (80+CRI)
T4 6A3 (80+ CRI)
T3 6A1 (80+CRI)
T4 7A4 (80+CRI)
T4 7A3 (80+CRI)
S6 7D3 (90+ CRI)
T2 8B4 (80+ CRI)

Im not sure if you can tell, but currently, im focusing on 80 CRI minimumā€¦ 0:)
btw, I have always liked WW emitters too.

Several of the warmer ones I just ordered. I will add them from the datasheet if they seem legit. Which I believe they are. But they are from a certain Aliexpress seller that was banned (due to violation of rules and not so nice marketing). Ill see how they compare with other emitters.

I plan on doing more emitter mixing in the future. That is the nice thing, if something is slightly too yellow combine it with something that is slightly too red.

Iā€™m guessing a dedomed WW emitter looks a little like a campfire in tint
Itā€™s interesting how that 5C1 can be so two spots to the right of 5B1, on the same line, and yet only be 75CRI. :~
I have two of those 7D3 90+CRI siting on my workbenchā€¦ just itching to get onto a star
Where did you find 8B4? Thatā€™s almost an incandescent

Its T5, the 80+ CRI emitters are T4 at best. If you see in the CREE spreadsheets, often when you go higher in CRI you go down on BIN. So its not that surprising.
Sometimes the trick is to find the nice emitters that are top bin, and the highest CRI for that emitter. Many stores seems to get this, but there are a few emitters out there that is not the top-stuff.
This T2 7C1 as an example.
Im pretty sure that in that tint you could get T3 and 80+ CRI, but that emitter is ā€œonlyā€ 80 CRI-typical and T2.

Another example is the T3 6A1 from intl-outdoor. Im not a huge fan, because its quite rosy-red-ish (IMO, I have one) And its ā€œonlyā€ T3. Why do I say only?
Because I have a T4 6A3 incoming. Higher bin, hopefully not much ā€œrosy lookingā€ā€¦ Its not available from the Aliexpress seller anymore though. When that is said, Intl-outdoor does not sell it bare either anymore but with the X3.

Another example with CRI, 5B1 with 80+ CRI is T4 BIN (from intl-outdoor)
leddna sell 5B in T5 bin, but then it has to be 75-CRI. (Its not added in the database, I donā€™t add everything I see, especially if the information is not complete or the emitter is really cheap. 5B what?? I dont want a super yellow 5Bā€¦)

The 8B4 came from this seller along with several of the other WW emitters I have incoming. Ill add them if they seem like the real deal, which I have a feeling they are. Im curious how it will be, I have never had anything that warmā€¦ I have a feeling it will be way too much, but you never know.

When it comes to 7D3 90+CRI, you have to be good to tell the difference between that and 80+ CRI. If you like the tint, then you will like it, if not, the 90+ CRI will not do wonders based on my experience. Such emitters should be nice tint mixers in various multi-emitter lights with low/mediocre CRIā€¦

Have the T4 5D2ā€™s already sold out? Canā€™t find them on the website.

Itā€™s a bummer that Aliexpress vendor was banned. He was giving a great BLF discount. I see my order of xml U2 3Cā€™s are sitting in NY right now. I also have some xml2 T5 5B1ā€™s on the way from him.

Yupp, seems like thatā€¦

Just because he was banned does not mean its not illegal to talk about him, this aint CPF.
But since he is/or was banned (he have a user account with convoy something in the name), im a bit cautious recommending him. But I have not heard of any complaints from buyers yet. If the stuff I get seems to be as advertised, I will add the emitters to the database. His selection is quite good, and with a 30% discount, so are his prices. I did not have to buy 5 of each, he fixed the price/quantity before I paid. He answered real fast too.

From an emitter perspective, based on first impression his emitter selection seems to be way more serious than several stores who are not banned, or even recommended.

Ehmā€¦ XML U2 3Cs???
