LOOKING FOR CHEAP WALKIE TALKIE

Hi guys
i want to ask if someone here an expert about walkie talkie,i need an advice which one i should buy and where to buy.
first time to use walkie talkie so i’m very noob about this.
thanks for the help before.

You can always buy the junky gmrs bubble pack handhelds. These are the typical ones you will see at Walmart or best buy. The advertised range on these is no where close to being accurate. Expect 1-2 mi.

You are FAR better off spending a couple hours studying for a HAM radio licence and getting a 70cm/2m HAM handheld.

Not only will you have much better range you can also add an external antenna to go even further.

On top of that you will be able to use repeaters in your area enabling you to get upwards of 20 or 30 miles of range.

ham handhelds or “HTs” are very inexpensive nowadays. They can be had for the cost of those crappy bubble pack radios.

take a look at the Baofeng
brand. They can be had for as little as $35.

the uv-b5 is probably the best buy. I own this one.

ham radios are far more useful in an emergency as you can almost always get a hold of someone. Not so with GMRS.

If that. I've noticed they get much better range in the city than out in the boonies.

2 plastic cups and a piece of string  lol

ill get my coat……

1/2-2mi is probably more accurate. the only time I’ve gotten over 1.2 mi was when my contact and I were facing each other high up on adjacent mountains with just open air in between. Hardly a typical scenario.

The opposite is true you have it back to front.

You're telling me what I've noticed? I didn't say it makes sense, but it is indeed what I've noticed.

thanks for the help,i must studied first before i start using it.
i have my eye on baofeng uvr series because its size is so small

you can listen without a license but you can’t transmit without one.

The uv-b5 is a better radio than the uv-5r. But the uv-5r does have more accessories and a larger user base and a few extra features. Both are the same size.

got it.
don’t want to violate the regulation for illegal using of the frequensi
