Looking for best ~30$ flash light, trying to get it fast

The Home Depot ones are mostly standard alkalines. The Crelant I posted is 18650 Li-Ion.

md-lightsource has the Crelant V11As, which I think are AA.

but I don’t know how throwy they are (but will get one of the V11As one of these days .

Sorry, I forgot to including shiningbeam.com.

This should be pretty good thrower, and AA:

$16.75.

P.S. He’s in NY, so should be pretty fast shipping to you?

Thanks! so far I’m looking at this one with the 9$ battery that “comes with it” depending if they can get it here on time. Let me know opinions and if anyone has beam shots. thanks

Get something in Canada if you want it by he 20th.

Where are you located in Canada? There are some good brick and mortar flashlight stores in Canada.

Hi, Located on the east coast. Montreal, Quebec.
Still looking for other options it seems MD-lightsource won’t ship batteries and not sure about shipping because he quoted me 24$ shipping… I asked about free ship and got no reply yet.

Wasn’t that one light free shipping to Canada? That’s what it said on the md-lightsource.com page. Also, BTW, he is on BLF sometimes, username is “madecov”.

Just got a reply, he said free shipping may take 2-3 weeks to arrive( that’s slower than if I receive it from China what the… ). Still looking for other options. Thanks!

Do you have a Costco membership and one nearby? You might want to check out this thread about a Techlite 1000 lumen available in the Canada Costco…

Costco Techlite 1000 lumen

Do you have Home Depot in Canada? If so, $29.99 USD will buy you a Defiant ArmorMax. 600’ish Lumens! I am a proponent of this light. It will throw a beam easily over a 1/4 mile and runs on your typical Dcell batteries. Waterproof, shockproof to a 30 ft drop and sturdy enough to knock out a bear with a good swing lol. Ive never taken it out into totally dark woods but for the price I dont think you could do better for camping…. Search the site for beamshots. This is better than some of the spotlights we use in our patrol cars!!!* Good luck!!! : )

Side by side comparison of the ArmorMax with your standard 3D Maglite……

If you want it by July 20, I would put up a “flashlight wanted, Canada only” thread on this forum. Sure someone in Canada has a light that matches you criteria and could ship right away.

Ok so I checked costco.ca they didnt have it online but i saw some post from a member from Montreal who said he just bought it. I went to check and they do have the techlite 1000 lumens flashlight for 40$. Is this a good choice? Is the defiant thrower 3c at homedepot better? They dont have it online but they may have it in store, i didnt go to check that out. If the techlite ia a good choice, what are the upgrade options? Rechargeable battery etc etc? Thanks

Got both the home depot one ( or I thought it was the good one… it is a MAGLITE 3D cell flashlight ) and also got the one from costco ( techlite cree 1000 lumens ) . There is no fair comparison… the maglite is way overpriced @ 40$ ( techlite is the same price at costco ). So I will be bringin back the MAGLITE. What are my options for rechargeable batteries ( C 1.5v ) and charging “station?” Any good upgrades for it ? Is there any way to disable strobe ?

With C batteries you can get NiMHs (1.2v), but I’m not sure where to get them and if you want to charge them, you should get something like a Nitecore i4 intellicharger v2 to charge both NiMHs and Li-ions if you ever decide to upgrade.
There is no way to disable strobe unfortunately.

aceb, where are you located, and what have you settled on for a throw distance? I may have something in that price range that will meet the needs.
The ‘standard’ battery requirement could be a problem with my collection though.
I can tell you that the Defiant Super Thrower 3C is in stock in the Bradford, Ontario HD for $24.97. As a thrower, it can’t easily be beat for the price. I’ve heard it’s in stock in some other HDs as well, and some have it on sale for under $20.
Edit: nevermind… somehow, I didn’t see your last couple of posts. :~

+1 on the Super Thrower…. Great light!

was wondering why no one recommended the old standby C8, which is available from any number of Ebay sellers in NA, who ship really fast? Plus w or w/ cheapo battery(s) and charger, that would have been under $25 and easier to stow in a pocket, jacket, pack than the larger Defiant light from HD.

To those (and they seem to be many) who have the HD light, how does it compare to a decent C8 in throw and spill?

How is the super thrower compared to the techlite 1000?

Here are beamshots of the Defiant Super Thrower I took (post 237 in that thread). I don't own a Techlite.
