i really like your shots comfy. very nice esp. for your first time. id like to see your custom 5xml king up in the mix.
i think i need to find me a light with a mtg2.
Let's hope the MT-G3 will be a monolithic die instead of an array... that weird hexagon shape is the most compact way to arrange the array, but as a rough guess I'd say the total die area without the spaces in between is only around double or maybe a little less than that of the XML2. About the same amount of difference as between XML2 & XPG2.
Cree datasheets give the MTG2 die area but don't specify if that's the area of the entire array's footprint, or if it only counts the emitting surfaces of the individual dies that make up the array.
Maybe one day silicon manufacturing will make it economically viable to use round dies instead of square (round wastes a huge amount of silicon). I still don't understand how you can put a square die in a round reflector and get something out the end that doesn't look all screwed up. :)
Very nice beamshots.
Its impressive to see the MT-G2 vs XM-L S1100. For most type of use, I would say its a no brainier picking the MT-G2…
They seem to portray quite good why I mostly avoid CW… The less cool white lights are just so much more pleasing to look at… (despite the low CRI on most of those lights)
Just curious, what focal length and white balance were used on those shots?
Great beamshots comfychair!I am still getting the run-around from SF on my s2200.It’s a great light but I think I am done w/SF and most overseas sellers at this point.Sorry to crap on your thread…just venting.-Rick
Cool, I used to own a similar Sony camera “back in the day”. I remember one of the reasons for buying it was that it had a few manual settings.
Thanks for the exif.
Focal length is 7,9, which is the equivalent to 38mm on full fram camera.
Or about 25mm on a typical DSLR.
No idea, don't have a meter. It started as a $6 light with a ringy green-tinted white XRE and a next mode driver. It's still using the wide-base XRE reflector, the original cheap aluminum pill that only fits 16mm stars (though with a JBWelded Sinkpad), and a handmade super thick centering ring (around .065" thick).
I know jack-all about camera settings, but in the controls the focus is set to infinity. No settings changed from the S1100 pics but there was some light fog/mist in the air during the second batch of pics.
