New High Lumen Claim - 3800 Lumens!

I doubt it'll be much of a thrower - though when you put out that sort of light, who needs throw?

If you see my beamshots of the Romisen RC-T5 and RC-T6 that's what I'd expect, just quite a bit brighter - the RC-T6 is around the 700 lumen mark, the T5 around 450. This one should be pushing 2000, maybe more.

Thanks Don. I'm not a big fan of purely throwy lights, so that's a positive to me. I see you have a stock WF-500. The WF-500 with the 5x XR-E module has a very similar beam shape, but a little brighter. For walking on long, straight paths at night, this light does the trick. You can see pretty far into the distance. But most of the time I'd rather have a moderately wide flood, with so much output that it achieves decent throw too.

With the purely throwy lights, if you're worried about bears to the left and right, you need to keep painting the beam all over the place. I'll use the 3x XM-L for those kinds of walks, and the 5x XR-E for the long straight paths where bears don't go. :)

What have I done!? I just ordered this ..............

For XM-Ls on a ~ 25mm reflector to really throw, you'd need brute force with crazy numbers of them, something like the 30pcs custom one on a Thor X Colossus host in CPF's HIDs and Spotlights section. :) (but then the spill will spoil your night adapted vision, and for those in temperate countries definitely not useful in the snow). Seriously its not too bad, like duct taping 3 P60 hosts with XM-L together. Its actually a wee bit smaller than the Catapult V3.

I've ordered one, there is a very high chance this can out throw the UF-980L but still be slightly below a Catapult V3, but the wall of light in a small package would be fun (slots in below my Ebay HIDs). I'll definitely not be able to bring myself to order one from Jetbeam/Thrunite/Olight at the pace LEDs are moving.

One day some company like Ultrafire/Trustfire will come out with a 5 XM-L with 3 18650s or 4 18650 in a holder and price it at $100. :)

Wow....SGD to USD is at all time low again.

Very fashionable also:

Talicap switch on that cannon?!?

Switch is on the end of the battery which slides in that end

C8 Style but bigger head

Hahaha.....well I guess we flashaholics like it small, small pocket rockets or medium pocket rockets (this Sky Ray 3xT6?). However Ebay sells them at really too high a price. The price dropped to $95 already (45W/55W/65W 3 mode model). Shipping via EMS is usd32 to my place, $21 to nearer places like Taiwan.

But currently the champ is not this, but the Lightpipe 70W model, in which they re-adjusted it down to $135 (it was $125 first, then they whacked it up to $175 as it was really un-doable at that crazy price). Li-ion, 60 min runtime, 4.75" reflector (not too small to impact performance, but not too big). Something like that Mozo. This is a crazy thrower from the hotspot beam pattern. There were shots with it and a Varapower SST-90, out-threw it by quite a magnitude. Shipping within Continental US is $15 I think. They stocked up on a batch of Li-ion packs meant to recharge notebooks (Made in Korea, guess the cells?), once that is gone it will go back up. Hobby packs are cheap...but not that cheap.

Yep, its tailcap activation. Abyway manafont is processing it now, its Saturday but they have a habit of sending it out on a Sunday night as well. Will take some shots vs regular XM-L, HIDs.

IMR's at the Home Depot? Can you tell me more about these please? Got a sku or part number? I did a search on their site and couldnt find anything.

Not exactly being sold there but the employess let me take a couple of drill batteries from the battery recycle bin and I found a couple of practically brand new drill batteries which I extracted Samsung and sony IMRs.

Next up: "Hot chicks who love hot torches!"

Definitely beats other fetishes, dontcha?

gday mate i just did too so we will just have to wait and see & does anyone know whats the best batteries for this torch i have the pcb flame trustfires would they handle this torch cheers & hi to everyone ??

Trustfire Flames shd be ok, but not sure how much are they gonna draw at the tailcap. Remember if each emitter is gonna draw 2.5A, that's 7.5A total. So each cell is gonna be doing at least 3.75A, add some more for driver losses. But we'll have to get it first to see how it goes....it could be more, it could be less.

Others can consider the Solarforce V2 18650 2400, they are only $7 a piece, so that's $14. Just 3 dollars more than the trustfire flames 2400. Batteries are gonna last for a good number of your next new variant LED flashlights. Flashlights change, batteries don't. That said, I have 2 Ultrafires (given to me "free" from my lasers), one 2400 labelled and the other 3800mAH labelled, both are capable of doing 2.5-3A on my XM-L when fully charged and they do last > 1hr on medium (approx 1.25A) so i guess they are "pretty ok". I have the $5 PALight 3000mAH labelled protected 18650 from manafont, pretty ok too.....i think over 2hrs on medium but then during latter stages the current pull could be dropping and < 1A (did not check). Hey, as long as not DOA. Cool

This is esp important for a 2S light like this. So perhaps for starting off, just order $14 worth of Solarforce V2 18650 and be done with it? Laughing

I am sure you'd not wanna use Ultrafires/trustfires on a $100 flashlight next time when you upgrade. The good Li-ion shd last a good couple of years (5 at least?) if maintained well.

Or you can use AW IMRs, they are pretty safe. Won't have fireworks.

I it wise to present a flashlight with the slimmest Asian chick you can find? Makes the light to appear to be twice as big.

What happened to the Trusfire TR-1600 review? The one with the 6x Q5. Also pretty competent. Its only 33 bucks at manafont (the 1-mode one). Small reflectors, but also small emitters, so i guess it pretty much balances out. But if each emitter is driven decently and gives out say 240lm (give it some slack man), that's 1200lm....and it should run pretty hot, probably as hot as this Skyray 3 x XM-L @ 2000lm.

I got the 6*Q5 drop-in at DX, and according to my measuremets

  • it is slightly (~3%) brighter than the 5*R2 drop-in;
  • it throws 300m, while the 5*R2 throws 330m (NEMA-throw)

I'm pretty sure they are below 1000lm, while my 5*XPG-R5 is above :)

Thanks....330m sound good. Sounds like Solarforce Masterpiece Pro-1 kind of throw, but with a larger hotspot.

Still awaiting manafont's shipping notification. Weird, I ordered on Sat 1pm HK time and 2pm it was already processing. Usually they will ship then on Monday (sometimes Sunday night). Perhaps its already out of stock!

Tiny chicks with tiny hands make everything look bigger!

Johnny (just sayin'...) Mac

Samething here , still processing..
