R86s - Build From Scratch- It's a coke light, but it ain't diet

When it turns into one of those spewing chocolate fountains you know it’s getting hot and it’s time to turn it off.

Shhhh!

Thanks for the tips…
I have plans and Ideas though… Just wait and see. I just want to figure out of the driver circuit before I do any inside work…

Chocolate fountain??? Who would turn that off? :stuck_out_tongue:
How many amps does that take? I want one…

You load those HD ChocFire’s and the thermal protection circuit reroutes the heat to the chocolate wrapper. The mocha dark chocolates are my favorites!

Updated first post! Lots of pictures of the build…
Kinda finished light… Consider it a prototype that needs some more work…

Nice race to the finish line. Your going to shock people at parties with this one. I love it. I’d still hate to be on the judging panel.

That’s a nice light in a challenging host. Great job!

Thanks, MRsDNF!

I would not like to be among the judges, that is for sure. My build so far does not deserve to be anywhere near the top the way it is now, but Im hoping Im in for a gift certificate.

Thanks!
Some of the idea was to make a very bright SRK style light that used AA batteries and were unique. Coke can suited me nice, its a personal thing. And I wont give away anything without a decent tint.
When I get around to improve it, I plan to gift it to by best friend. He said he wanted a bright light… Still a long time until his birthday or Christmas.
He is very into phones/tech and such, so would be cool with the Asgard driver, but If I cant get the one I have to work properly with high output, Im not sure I will buy another Asgard. Right now, Im tired of the driver and I cant bother to properly finish the rear end just to have it done for the competition, and then rebuild it again depending on the driver/switch solution. If using the Asgard, the BT antenna would probably have to be there at the back too.

Thats some of the best camouflage I have seen on a flashlight. Even the top still just looks like a can of coke. Nice work.

I think what you’re looking for is called a touch latch. You push and it comes partway open so you can get you fingers behind it to open it the rest of the way. Some are magnetic, some mechanical. Another option is to put a plug and a jack between the batteries and driver/emitters, and glue a nut to the bottom of the battery cage and a bolt to the bottom of the light or some similar combination. I use barrel jack for this a lot. This was one of my favorite builds as it started so very far from anything remotely “flashlight”.

Nice build, a can is a good host!

Offtopic, but is “mexican” (or sugar) Coke available in US anywhere?

I like your light a lot, it looks very clean and beautiful!
The inside shows a lot of work and good implemented ingenuity.

Yes. You can find it here in 1 liter bottles. If you know where to look. The only Coke worth drinking. That and real Dr. Pepper (in the small 8 ounce bottles). I would never drink any of that high-fructose sweetened crap.

Some people here buy that stuff in import shops for >2$/12oz can or even >5$ for a 8oz glass bottle.
I like our sugar-beet sweetened Coke more but am quite curious if the mexican Coke is much different.

this has to be one of the best custom projects i have ever seen

ill take one! name your price! haha.

Awesome build! it's a shame the switch area gets a little beat up, but then it's not like you have a shortage of hosts :D

Very well done indeed.

Nice 8) thanks for replying!

Ran across this today in the office fridge… if you ever decide to reskin your light, get this can!
(I know I’m a month late, but I couldn’t help posting)

Cool, I can see where the hidden button could go. :)

I will rebuild my light, and use a new body. But ill stick to the original can that is available here.

I have lots of lights on my list to mod/rebuild before I get back to my coke light though..

I don't know how I've missed this! Funniest BLF mod by far.
