Lumintop SD10 1D cell flashlight

GAH!!! Who knew?! :open_mouth:

i got mine

its great

any battery i have will fit

18650, 26650, 32650, 3x aaa, 1x D, 1x C

talk about a doomsday light

very good output on 3x eneloops, im guessing around 500 lumen otf

Nice! By any chance do you have a Nitecore EA4 or a SWM D40A to compare it with?

What is the average capacity of good name brand alkaline D cells? I know you can order good LSD D cell NiMH’s with ~10,000mAh but off the shelf your lucky to find energizer 5000’s.

Because of the pretty simple UI and different cell capability I’m thinking this will be a great light to recommend to non-flashlight people so I figure they’re not gonna put much research into battery choice, what would they be better off with, ~5000mAh (rated so most likely less actual) NiMH’s or name brand alkaline’s? [forget about the one-time use vs. rechargeable aspect, what ones will be longest running?]

i had two ea4s but sold both… its about the same size - similar output to the eye as well… beam is a little less smooth looking but build quality is top notch… (aside from flimsy battery carrier)

i like it better than the nitecore personally

Have both. And D40 looks brightest, ea4 close, LD10 not so close.

What battery/batteries were you using in the LD10?

Well, I currently have a D40A and an SD10 on the way, and I already have the EA4W, so I’ll be doing a full review as soon as I receive it.

cant wait. i only have the ea4w, but bought it when there was no sd10 or d40a. do have the new xintd x3, but they really are not a comparison

Keeppower 26650

Glad a full review coming.

I do like the LD10 but neither of my LD10’s were as bright as the D40.

Hmm, so even on Li-Ion it’s not as bright? But I guess that stands to reason, the D40A and the EA4 are specifically designed to work with only one battery configuration and chemistry, whereas the SD10 can run on ANYTHING bigger than a button battery and smaller than a car battery, Alkaline / NiMH / Li-Ion. Jack of all trades and master of none. Almost all the multiple-chemistry compatible lights I own are less bright than their single-chemistry counterparts. But even so, I think the SD10 is going to be a very useful light, I’ve been waiting for a 1xD light for ages.

yes, but it is nice to have a jack of all trades. as some of you may know, over 2 years ago i was looking for a singe D cell light

+1

It's funny that we're disappointed about the output of a light that still probably puts out over 500 lumens. That says a lot about how far lights have come.

if you really think about it... with typical use, i rarely use over 400l. thats just me. typically i use low/med. only my large lights see regular hi/turbo use. my ea4w is still on the original energizer lithium cells, last time i checked it was still at 6v

The EA4 really was a game changer. I never cease to be amazed when I turn it on in turbo mode and see it matching or beating a lot of Li-Ion lights despite using only 4 run of the mill NiMH or alkalines.

I use low much more than 300+ lumens. The low on the LD10 makes this a far more useful light to me than the EA4. The LD10 would be my next light, but jmac said the TR-S700 has a moonlight mode.

I'm so happy that we have a flashlight with a good low and a wide assortment of battery choices and another super mega light that also has a moonlight. The chinese are starting to get it really right.

yes, a flashlight that will use 6 different cells with 4+ chemistries is a blessing (nimh, alkaline, lifepo, Li-ion...... list goes on)

but personally, i will hold off on the tr-s700. it looks like a great light, but i have learned there is a huge difference from a "mac approved" to a "foy approved" light

The TR-S700 is cool, but kinda apples n oranges with the SD10. Very different designs… multi-emitter vs single, multi-cell vs single, etc… It is very good to see cell versatility of new lights improving.

The output on the SD10 seems to be perfectly acceptable according to reports so far.

Very true. It is really a sweet light. Good modes, nice hot spot and beam, and versatility. I’ll bet everyone who receives this light will be very pleased. On NiMH it is outstanding. Side note; D40 carrier will not work/fit in the LD10.
