Review Smallsun ZY-C89

Sorry for the problem with the pics i'll get them sorted asap

You might want to check your purchase date of 12/7/10 which I'm assuming should be 6/7/10 unless you have some kind of time machine we don't know about. :D

OOOOOOOOOPPPPPPSSSS

If you had a time machine I was going to ask you to pick me up some future eneloops.

I assumed that your date was month/day/year but I guess it was day/month/year so the OOOOPS would be on me. Wink

I own 2 or 3 Small Sun lights, thats why I'd like to know: does the clicky rubber stink? I f'ing hate it when it stinks, some of them are so ugly they'll carry the smell on to your finger after just one click.

I don't understand why my pics aren't loading, it's always worked before...

Can anyone point out what i have done wrong

Hey Charles, thanks for the pics! Sorry about the image difficulties, it's not too convenient to post multiple images. I'll have to find a better way. I do know that the [IMG] tag doesn't work. For now, I edited your post to turn them into clickable links at least.

I have always had my eye on this light, glad to see you like it. If it had better runtime I would probably pick up one of these myself. It's a very nice looking light, though.

I found a very similar "super budget" light that has almost the same body:

http://www.lightake.com/detail.do/sku.SmallSun_ZY_C575_LED_Flashlight_Torch_with_Clip_Black-27222

For $3.38 it looks rather nice. I just don't like how the light module is actually built into the body section, and unscrewing the head appears to just remove the reflector.

Thanks mr admin for sorting that for me, i don't know why the images are appearing properly i tried to post one image at a time but i just got a blue question mark when i previewed it os i guess it's something wrong at photobucket's end

The same thing happened to me....you will need to copy the direct link and paste it into the tree tab......then the pic will show. Nice pics and review.....how do you like it compared to your other lights.

Hi Al It's a nice light for the money but its not going to replace my Tank E07 and itp A1 EOS as my EDC it's just not bright enough and a little on the big side, but it is a nice light to have in my collection. It is a lot better made than the budget ebay zoom light that was posted a few days ago and doesn't get as hot.

Do you have any 14500's to try out, or will the light go poof. Any light that will do for ones collection is a good one, it might make a good light for indoor use or for in the car. It seems to have good runtime on nimh as well since most of us carry spares or are in a place that sells AA's.

@charlestt: Anything in regards to my question, please? Also, would you mind doing some beamshots?

A good rubber preservative like you would use on your tires should help mask the smell.

Thanks for the tip but that wouldn't be an option for me. Stinking is a pretty good indication for toxicity, and I wouldn't just want to mask that.

I would really like to see asian factorys staying away from this crap material.

My .99 cent ebay flashlights had that toxic stink to them that stuck to my hands. They stunk so bad that I didn't even want to give them away. I tried cleaning them but the smell was still there so I just stored them away for now.

Hi mate yeah the rubber tail cap does stink, It kinda smells like an old disused pipe. :-)

A couple of destinking options. Mine don't smell by the way.

Make a thick paste of sodium bicarbonate (may also be called sodium hydrogen carbonate or baking powder), just add a little water to it until the paste is nearly dry. Rub over the smelly bits and leave for an hour or two. Often works.

Bleach will usually work, but is messier.

The best bet is a vacuum chamber till they outgas but that isn't something most people have at home.

Hey Charles whats that other silver light on the left of the 34........

Looks like an LED Lenser to me (I think Coast is the brand they use in the USA)

Hey Al that's an led lenser tripplex

One of these http://www.ledlenser.co.uk/content/productView.aspx?prodId=45

Not terribly bright but looks very nice and lovely build quality
