New Duracell NiMHs 2450mAH

I saw some new Duracell NiMHs at Shopper's Drug Mart (getting snacks again), and the package says 2450mAH. The tops are a dark greyish green. Anybody have more info on these?

They are just regular rechargable nimh batteries .. I assume they are china but maybe be not it will say on the package . japanese cells are always better but they aren't the lsd cells if you are looking for LSD then they are always a lesser mah rating at 2000 mah the lsd is .. precharged .. lsd = low self discharge like sanyo eneloops ,, white top duracells ARE sanyos .Mine have been a little older some are 2007 and others are 2009 but it really doesn't matter once you cycle them a few times they strech and wake right up ...I think someone was talking about pc batteries as being rebadged eneloops too .. might wanna keep your eyes out for those .. white top is a dead giveaway with 2000 mah aa and 800 mah aaa ..i've never seen a pres. choice ?? or private selection ?? i forget which one is canada stuff.

Ah, I see. I thought they were something else since they didn't look black to me. I guess they could be considered black tops. I'll keep an eye out next time I go to Superstore. They call housebrands up here PC and No Name. Yeah, I always found No Name to be a funny name since it is in fact their copyrighted name. In US it's No Frills, right?

yeah no name in canada is about like stuff in the states that the store puts it's name on .. then depending on what it is there may besomething even cheaper but it's usually really bad too .. I think no name stuff in canada is pretty good usually . never heard of "no frills" but it scares me already.

lsd-low self discharge batteries are easy to spot .. they say pre-charged...they are always lower capacity AA is 2000 and AAA's are 800 and have white tops if you want the sanyos.. they say made in japan and most of the dates are older like 2007 2009 on the AAA's and sometimes newer on the AA's like 2009 and 20011.. but dates on these guys don't matter at all . lithium ion yess .. nimh .. not much at all . after 3 cycles they are top performing as good as they will ever be ..I have a few sanyos from the early 90's .. tuff as nails . Japanese batteries are the best in the world sanyo .panasonic etc ..ichiiban

Kragmutt, keep your eyes and ears open to Shopper's Drug Mart. They often had Duracell pre-charged, [white top, made in Japan = eneloop in disguise] for ~$8.00, or at least they did when I picked some up quite awhile ago.

Superstore [Loblaws] - check out their 'PC' brand, once in a blue moon you may find them on sale. They also seem to be eneloops in disguise; white top, made in Japan, identical vent holes on positive terminal. My PC brand AA's are ~ 3 yrs. old and still behaving nicely.

Aside from that, I would look at Dell.ca or thomasdistributing.com if dell doesn't have a sale on for 10 bucks / 4pack.[free shipping via dell]

If you're in a bind, there's nothing wrong with rayovac hybrids, can find them at wallyworld, or cndtire. They don't hold voltage under load as well as eneloops but for less intensive uses, they're fine.

I have some of the 2450mah Duracells, their capacity is pretty much as stated when used at lowish currents and on the whoel they are good batteries....they are just not LSD.

I bought they because they were too cheap not to, at a more sensible price you might as well just get the LSD cells.

Mine are made in Japan, no idea if that is the case for all of them.

Although I think the rayovac hyrids are / were made in japan too .. most of the dates on my batteries(on the package ) are older too but it really has no effect on the nimh . some 2007 2009 and I think i've seen 2010 . I didn't feel so bad when I saw the exact same thing in numbers of stores too .

the 2450mah is not a duraloop . it's a regular nimh,,

I would buy them if they were dirty cheap .. i think the only reason i get duraloops cheap is people don't know or care one battery from another .
