Bargain tip

If i had the mullah right now i would also jump on this.....Cry

That's ok Al, just keep in mind that when I die, you get all my lights. ;)

Gee, thanks bud- lets hope thats years from now.

Hopefully. :~

Hi guys it's gone up in price to$14.25

I guess some of us got lucky when we got them for $5.10 but until we actually get the lights, we can't really say that we got a bargain. $)

I put the order in but have not paid.

Now up to Hong Kong Post and the Royal Fail (oops Mail). Not in the HK Post system yet - it often takes a day or two.

WSDeal seem to be having problems just now - very slow to load, and the database denies I exist. Probably be fine when someone gives the server a good kicking.

I just got an email from WSdeal that my order has been shipped. Now we'll see how long it actually takes to get here.

Thanks XrayBoy!

I got in before the price increase. Since they gave me a small price break at 10 or more lights, I decided to go ahead and purchase 10. Surprisingly, EMS shipping was the cheapest method of shipment. Total with shipping came to $79.70 US... or $7.97 per light. This should keep me busy with mod hosts for a good long while and allow me to toss a few to my friends... and turn those poor suckers into flashaholics! Now to see if they actually ship my order or cancel it.

Not deserve.
Now I have this flashlight with XP-G R5 and remains a powerful thrower.

I soldered the LED with flat welds as possible and I cut the plastic from the wires over.

The reflector I hit a couple of strips of cello to isolate and remove the protective of the power led,
with the intention that the reflector down as much as possible and put his R5.

It is still amazing what concentrated.Little change projection. The spot will have grown by 30% approx.

The XPG upgrade looks great. How far away was the light from the wall when you took the pics?

Arround 2 meters.

At much greater distance (about 20 meters) does not concentrate as much as a XRE, but still very bright.

With a XRE its a awesome thrower. Maybe even too much for my use.

Im waiting for a DX driver that puts (with a little work) the XPG at 1400mA. Will see if holds.

Nice job on the install...nice and bright i see.

I will probably do the same when I get mine. Which dx driver did you order?

Thanks again for the details. Your work looks great!

Sku 26109 and Sku 07612

The first is just to remove the L7135 chips and put one in the free space of the second driver,to get 1400mA.

(each chip handles 350mA) we'll see if the experiment works!

Would this be a better alternative for your application? This price seems about right.

http://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/the-133/**NEW**-3-dsh-Mode-Regulated-Circuit/Detail

Yes,but the price to send it to Spain is arround USD 6-7$. :~

Basically is the same, but with the DX drivers I expect to get less difference between modes.

(less leap from half to high mode in the shiningbeam drivers).

Also DX driver has 19 modes in groups...I get another 2 L7135 chips for use with other drivers that I have...

If it were less expensive for me to buy in shiningbeam, do not bother to do this.

Furthermore, when you make it your own (If I succeed,of course...I've never done before) tastes better.

Those sound like great reasons to me! I didn't realize that shiningbeam charged such steep prices for shipping. I just checked and they want $2.75 to ship local in the U.S. when it shouldn't cost any more than $0.50. That, on top of a higher initial item prices than dx or kd. I do realize that they have great customer service but I'll think twice now before buying from them.

Good luck with your chip mod and let us know how it turns out. I don't have a soldering iron tip small enough for that size work. Do you plan to reflow solder the chip to the board? Your idea sounds like fun.

As I said, is the first time that I do.

Just only I have a soldering Iron Tips and a Desoldering Pump. I hope it is enough to remove and re-solder chip.

I dont know if the chips stand that heat without break, but someone has to try. :P

I love to try this stuff, just for diversion. No always end well, :shy: but I spend a good time enjoying.

I will post my experiment here when done.Cross your fingers.
