Mega-condensed review:

  • Brighter than BTU Shocker (when comparing high mode to high mode)
  • Driven hard (around 8.5A) for great output and still doesnt overheat when ran in high mode continuously outdoors.
  • Probably the highest build quality of all the flashlights in my collection. Nearly flawless machining, finish and design.
  • Balances great in the hand.
  • 3 x 18650 parallel cells without a bulky battery cradle maintains a slender battery tube.
  • Throws a tight beam with good spill.
  • Magnetic controls for maximum goodness.
  • Has a memory preset for infinite brightness selection.
  • Host isnt glued and can be modded without a blow torch. YES!!! Its about time! :bigsmile:
  • Probably one of the most overlooked flashlights in its category.

Wish I have bought one of these long ago. This is going to see A LOT of use.

I have been very pleased with the quality, value and variety of lights XTAR is producing. The next 12 months is going to be very interesting and see new models take of advantage of advancing LED technology.

It is a great platform for modders - especially considering the current sale price. I swapped emitters to XM-L2 T6-3C without losing a bit of the stock performance. I take it out on the boat for midnight booze cruising and turtle spotting.
